wow that easy, huh? I was wondering the same thing before. won't issues come up with turning the lights on and maybe blowing a fuse or something because the lead is directly connected to a 12v constant source?

Before you start connecting wires, you should look over the wiring diagram and make sure that you won't get unintended consequences. If you can't understand the wiring diagram, you are better off creating an independent circuit straight from the battery to run your new electrics. Don't forget to fuse it!

^^ right, but my question is...since you're splicing the lead connector to a constant source, what do you do with the wires for the actualy "on/off" switch stick to turn the lights on and off? Do you just not turn it on by accident or do you have to disconnect those?

Well, unless you want your running light switch to energize the normally-on circuit when it is turned on, then you should disconnect the circuit from the running light circuit.

Like I said, be careful when making circuits do things for which they were not intended.

It might be a good idea to get hold of a wiring diagram for a Canadian Yaris to see how Toyota handled DRLs on it.
