difference between dual ohms and single ohms
#2
Two voicecoils versus one. The main difference they offer is flexibility in wiring. A single sub with a single 4 ohm voicecoil can only be run at 4 ohms on a single channel. A sub with dual 4 ohm coils can be run at 2 ohms or 8 ohms on a single channel or run at 4 ohms on each of 2 channels.

to further the answer. No....there isn't a difference in sound......just like S-S said....wiring flexibility....which can be a good thing......i had a 1 ohm stable amp....so i went out and bought a dual 2ohm 12" sub.....wired it in parallel and ran the complete power of the amp to it.....which made it SLAM!!!

yeah, the important thing to know is that for simple wiring, a dual 4 can be run at 2 or 8 and a dual 2 can be run at 4 and 1.. since most amps are rated at 4 and 2, just be careful when you buy so you don't end up with something you can't run with your amp.
