Default DIY keyless entry.

im planning on buying a Xa soon. and, i don't plan on purchasing the keyless entry option. a few days ago, i found a DIY security and keyless entry system package for about $150 at circuit city. do yu guys have any experience with sumthing like that? is it reliable? or, should i just take it to a professional (costs more, so i really don't want to)?

Default May be better to go with OEM

I installed security system by myself. I chose SCION security system because it was designed for SCION. All wirings/connectors are already there on the car. There is no need for cutting/re-connecting wires. I looked at less-expensive after market security systems, but didn't want to take a chance to mess up the electrical. It is a BIG DEAL if you mess up the electrical system as modern cars highly depnding upon electrical system to run properly.

Scions come with factory keyless period, alarm is optional. Adding a aftermarket
alarm will not void your warranty period! VIPER alarms are ok would recomend
clifford g5 products as far as remote start on a 5 speed clifford ag5 will do this
safely you leave car running when u get out and after armming it will shut down
to aviod starting in gear, if alarm is disarmed before remote starting it will not
it does this incase some one sele gets in ur car after u got out

all xB's come with standard keyless entry - just no alarm (scion security) the xA's however do not come with standard keyless entry.

I'm getting my clifford RSX matrix 3.5 alarm and was wondering about the remote start. So if I disarm the alarm before I remote start, "it will not" start?? sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I've got little experience with remote starters.

Also, does anyone do or know of a good shop that does alarm/remote start installations??
Thanks

If your scion is a automatic nthe arm disarm will not effect it. The matrix line from clifford is almost the same as viper or any other DEI product. Inorder to due remote start safely in a car witha standard transmissiom use clifford g5 products these are based on new dei tech, and normal clifford operating procedures
