Default D'oh... might've screwed up my needles

So I got the Nu Images Gauge Overlays... easy 'nuff. Then I saw that my P-R-D-O-1-2 weren't lighting up and took it all apart again... to realize that that was part of the design and I would just have to look at the shifter for that part. No big deal except now the needles aren't working.... what did I do wrong??

- Jugglah

PS. It got too dark too look closely either. I hate leaving a project unfinished overnight. Grrrr.

Maybe you should read before you post! He was probably responding to the comment by Jugglah "Well I reinstalled everything and now it works fine. Anyone know where to mebbe get a different colored needle that's the same size as the spedometer needle?"

Drop the attitude when you thread jack, Jack!!!

If I'm not mistaken, there is a clear light "difuser" ring below the spedo needle... if there were a needle that had a clear part like the other two... it should light up as well.

Anyone know any other Toyota models that might share the same needles?

There is a clear plate behind the face that distributes the light. Behind the tach and fuel needles there are angled indentions made to reflect the light out and the holes in the face are larger to allow the light to pass. The speedometer doesn't have those indentions and the hole is much smaller. It'll probably still work but you may have have to cut your faceplate and the needle may not be as bright. Just thought I'd share some info. It might be useful for your planning.

So I thought about taking this in a new direction... anyone know if it's possible to buy replacement needles?

Mine work fine but it's hard to see the spedo needle since it's black on black now.

I asked at the dealership and it's not possible to order them. And they warned me about painting the existing one since they thought the spring action might be compromised by the extra weight.

Ideally I'd love a red or white needle (doesn't have to be as long, just needs to fit) or it'd be totally cool if it looked like red/orange/yellow flames as a pointer.

Can anyone help me out?

I don't know what they are referring to when they say spring action. There are no springs in the guages. It is servo controlled. I've seen others that have painted their needles and it worked fine. Just don't cake the paint on and it'll probably be fine.

Do some searches on Ebay to see what you can find. I found something that might work for you:

If these fit, it would be perfect if you could find someone else who wants a set and split the cost.

Chadfo... you rock! I was looking on eBay and couldn't find anything.

Still hoping for a cheaper solution but I'll prolly add these to my wish list.

FWIW... the Silverado needles won't fit according to the seller.

silveradossx is the seller.

Sorry these wont fit a Scion xB. I can only sell as kit.

Thanks, Justin
