flip down monitor help

All I can say is you will have to add support above the head liner to hold anything more than a dome light.
I used a 12" wide strip of 1/2" plywood to span from side to side above the head liner.
When you pull the head liner down you will see plastic supports above the doors all I did was rest the plywood above that and it works perfect.
And I ran the power and video up the passenger side behind the "A" piller.
Hope this helps and what you were looking for.
Good luck,Scott

sry. as an installer if u have to ask that question u shoud seek professional instalation. puting an overhead on a roof corectly requires buildin a brace, cuting of the headliner, running, wires through the headliner, and most inportant no extra antennas on the roof (screws holes in to that nice water tight sheet metal)

Yeah... We did an overhead yesterday at circuit city on a chevy tahoe and it was a hell of a lot of work. We mounted a piece of plywood under the headliner and we also had to grind down the trim ring around the overhead to make the screen sit flush with the hump on the headliner. Turned out great, but its not the funnest install..

You do not need to put a dang peice of wood in the xb if you know what your doing! I have a 10.4" drop down, I used the existing bracket it came with, pulled the light down and mounted it where the light went! You just need to be very careful you do not screw thru the top.... Get a drill bit that is smaller than the screws tap it for the screws then proceed with the install..
It is very simple just time consuming, you also need to make sure it is centered!! Good Luck!

Yeah, 10.4" flip down in mine and I didnt need any additional supports. I did have to drill 2 extra holes into the existing cross beam. INSIDEOUT is exactly right. Just use a bit that wont reach to the roof. I never cut the headliner or added anything. If I wanted to I can take out the flipdown and rock the dome light again without ever knowing it was there...
