Hard Wiring a Radar Detector

Hard Wiring a Radar Detector
I need a fused source that's hot when ign on. I was looking around the fuse box but saw no extra terminals. Do I have to tap an existing wire? If so, which do you suggest?

You could tap into the acc wire on the radio. It is already fused, but you could put your own in-line fuse if you like.
Or you could set up a relay if you are afraid of taking too much power from the radio (which a radar detector won't).
I forgot to mention, the accessory wire for the radio is gray. If you have an aftermarket radio, you could use the remote out wire (blue/white), or tap into the red accessory wire.

stab the left side on the fuse block,,, the right side is the hot side,,, left side is the fused side...
I wrote a DIY on bringing a relay / 30A (300W) worth of power into the cabin - you only need a very small amount for teh detector...
