Default Headrest mount for monitor...

On the opld Trooper I did the fully DIY install of a 6.5 screen, but in the xB I didn't want to cut them up, so instead we bought a tablet style portable player. It came with a bag that straps to the headrest, but it's kinda janky. I just bought one of thses off ebay to give a go...anybosy used one before? It may be perfect...it may be complete crap.....we'll see.

The hardest part will be finding a way to actually mount the monitor itself, but I should be able to figure it out.....I just like the adjustability that this seems to offer.

WEll, I FINALLY got around to making this work!

I used the flat part or the bracket (minus the oval shaped piece) and epoxied that to the back of the dvd player:

It's strong as hell...and the nice thing is that the bracket stayes in the car but now all I do is slide the player over that rod and tighten it don and it fits nice and snug. No more having a monitor in the car for thieves to eyeball.

Bonus is that by flipping the bracket around on the headrest, it places the player between the seats for when and if there is a passenger between the sleeping kids.

Pics of my handiwork tonight.

how much did the monitors plus brackets run you/where did you find them? I am interested in doing something like this, and i like the look. Is it possible to run wires for a game system as well?

It's not just a monitor...it's a tablet style portable dvd player. It flips open like a laptop and the dvd player is inside. I paid $150 for it and it comes with the charger (car and home) 2 sets of headphobes, remote, tape adapter etc. It also came with a bag that straps to the headrest, but it sucked which is why I wanted a more stable mount. This porticular one does not have an input on it.

I diod a fantastic job installing a monitor in the headrest of the Isuzu Trooper we traded in for the xB, but I didn't have the heart to do it on a brand new car.
