Heater **** not turning all the way and No Heat output..
Hello all and thanks in advance here is what I have:
somewhere along the line of all the DIY work I have done my heater no longer works (AC works great)
The **** for the temp does not turn all the way into the red. I can physically turn it that way, but it springs back about a quarter way back. The air that comes out is cold.
Before my warranty expired this past may I brought it to a dealer to have it looked at. They took one look at the speaker wires, RCA amp output wires and crossovers behind the dash and told me that they must be pushing against the know cable and would fix it for about 200 bucks or so.
I then took my dash apart and traced the cable that connects to the heat know all the way to where it appears to do through the firewall. There is nothing hindering it within the dash.
So I ask, has anyone had this problem and what is the possible fixes.
Thanks again guys and gals.

Heater **** springing back
I've had that same problem. If you look under the dash on the drivers side, right next to your foot, there will be a black cable attached to the mechanism that controls heat or air. There will be a clip right above where it connects to the underdash components, all you need to do is adjust the cable (up or down just a little at a time) until the **** is correct.
Hope is helps

I must be looking in the wrong place. I look under the dash, by the gas pedal and the center console and I see the clip and cable, but that only is for the fan speed, I am looking for the cable for the heat/cool ****.
Any thoughts, suggestions....Am I just not looking in the right spot or hard enough.
Thanks

Does this work for the **** on the far right, the one that controls where the air comes out? Mine won't turn all the way counter-clockwise. It still works and air comes out the top vents, but it bothers me that the **** won't stay in place. This is the only problem I've ever had with my car, actually.

Are you sure the **** was put back in the correct position? it sounds like you are getting to the end of the cable travel or you may have kinked the cable and it's binding in it's sleeve. As I remember if you take out the center section and glove box you should be able to see both ends of the cable and be able to tell what it's doing.

I know it has something to do with the radio wires though, because if I force the **** to turn, I lose all bass coming from the speakers.
It's really strange.

Thanks for all the posts guys....I fixed the problem!!!
Here is what was wrong:
If you look behind the controller that the ***** connect to, you will see 2 cables that go into them. One comes from the left (drivers side) and one from the right (passengers side).
The metal rod that slides through the cable that goes to the heat/ air **** (passenger side) was bent, not allowing it to slide all the way into the cable.
I straightened it and Bam, I now have full range on motion of my temperature ****, and the heat works and the air works again.
Take a look at yours and see if it is bent....total time for me to take the dash apart, fix the problem and put the dash back together was about 1 hour....good luck y'all.

my far right kknob was having a problem of once it turned past the middle setting, it wouldnt go back and was realy hard to move, it would turn but then spring back, i would have to rawl under the dash and manually work all the big levers and gears that one attaches to, but one day not even that would work and my **** broke! somewhere inside the mechanism that all three go into itll turn now, but it wont change and is forever stuck from the normal vents. ill prob have to pull the whole thing apart i just dont want to really.

I noticed the censor.lol Can start calling it the ac turn thingy.lol I just bought an 06 xB and I'm having the same problem. I started to take the dash off yesterday and had to put it back and the ac turn thingy is in the same place but now it doesn't get cold all the way even though it all the to cold. When I turn it to hot it stops just before hot like before but now it gets hot all the way.😞 So I'm going to go try what you said and see what happens. Wow, this is my first post in years.lol
