HELP! OEM gauge backlight problems...
Hey Yall,
My wife's '06 Xb with 38000 miles on it has just ran into a problem: The gauge, clock/odo, and head unit backlights are no longer working. All items are OEM, and there are no aftermarket mods. besides the dealer installed LED's. All other interior lights work, including the dome, led's, and dummy lights. The backlight for the head unit (the one that is lit when the headlights aren't on) works fine. Turn on the lights though, and it goes off, along with the others that I mentioned. I've checked every fuse in the fuse block, both under the steering wheel, and under the hood. All is good there. Also, all headlights, running lights, tail lights, reverse lights, all of them are good as well. Oh, I forgot to mention, the gauge, the clock/odo, and the head unit still have full functionality, except for the back lights.
Thanks for the help,
Matt

What year is your xB? If you have 06.5, do the back lights for the stereo controls on the steering wheel work or not? Sounds like the internal problem with the instrument cluster, but if you also have steering wheel controls lights that dont work, the problem is most likely inside the rheostat.

it's fixed... never was broke. Apparently, my wife didn't know what the dimmer switch did when she turned it all the way down. On top of that, I didn't think to check it until I talked to my dad about it. So, a big DERP on my part.
