hifonics amp.
Can someone please tell me if the hifonics brutus bx1500d is a good amp? I had made my decision to get it, then I was at tweeter today and they were telling that it wasnt that great of an amp.. It is going to cost be $230 online, so if anyone could recomend something equivalent that would be cool

I have the 1500bxd personally and I havent had any problems with it yet. Sure it isnt from the best manufacturer but its definitely a worth while buy in my opinion. I'm using it to power my 15" Resonant Engineering HC.

The guy at tweeter recomended an Alpine MRD-M501 for my needs. He said it would be able to power a nice sub. Now If that is the amp I go with, I need to decide on a good sub. How would these two items match up:

The sub is 500w rms, dual 4 ohm and the amp says 550 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. So does this mean I could get about 500 w out of it? Also would I be able to add another sub in the future (not that I really plan to) but just curious.

Hifonics
Hmmm, I know the national sales manager for that group a personal friend. I can't say I heard anything good or bad about them. I can tell that if it is a REAL 1500 watts you will have trouble with an alternator under 120 amps plus.

i have a hifonics BX1500D mono amp ....i bought it for a cheap solution to add my subs, while i saved for my complete JL AUDIO system....i have the amp powering my 2 12' Infinity Perfect 400W RMS 1400W Peak subs and they sound great, i want overall sound quality which i love about the PERFECTS and so far they sound crystal clear, and pound hard
This amp hits harder than my friends kicker 1000W mono Amp..
(i have had both running to the same subs)

So it seems as though the hifonics is pretty decent....... What kind of issues am I going to have if I dont get a capacitor to start out with? Also is that diamond audio m6 mkII a good sub to be powered by the 1500w hifonics

Im like 95 percent sure I will never add another sub in my car, so would it be better to maybe get a different brand with a lower wattage that is around $230? That diamond audio sub I want is 800 rms.

Your system
I am not a big fan of caps in an under powered system. By under powered systems I mean an undersized charging system. A cap can be a very power hungry part of a system and can cause even more trouble. As for the second part of the question I will not comment except to say....

yea i tink the second battery would be smarter. adding caps only adds something more for your charging system to power. with the battery itll stay charged longer and wont need to be charged as much (is this right?) you can get the best of both worlds and get a bat-cap. like this

First off what kinda sub did you say you were gonna run this amp to.
Second hifonics dose over rate there amps just a little bit but unless your an actuall compition type you wouldnt notice anything like that and it would be a good amp for ya.
Third you dont need a new altinator just get yourself a Red Top batter they hold a crap load of power you should use your stock batter and the red top both should be more than enough power so you dont dim your light with the system on.
