Default hiR light bulbs

Are you guys familiar with the term hiR not hid? Basically, they are Halogen Infared Relective. They go for around 100-130 for a pair. Hids are too expensive for me right now but i would but able to make this upgrade. It draws only 55w (low beam) and 65w (high beams) But they output around 130ws. The lowbeam 9006 runs about 1890 lumen and highbeam runs about 2500 lumens. Our bulbs are at 1000 lumens so this would mean BRIGHTER output for us.

I would like to compare this to the luminic bulbs. The luminic bulbs draws the same watts and outputs about the same but heats up to 5150k, HIR bulbs only go up to 3800k. Does anyone know the luminic lumen output?

BTW im not trying to steal business or start a fight with the retailer of luminics. In no way am i trying to harm your business. Im just trying to see if i should keep your huperwhite bulbs are make the switch. There will always be the price difference. Luminics 25 shipped HIR 100-130 PLUS SHIPPING.

Just wonder if these are worth the upgrade. Maybe i should save more money and go for hid but i dont want to retrofit cause it would cost too much. Thanks !

BTW the company that makes these was GE but they stop production and Toshiba is the only one that has the real HIR technology bulbs. Thanks for reading and feedbacks!

Taken from about forum
The HIR's do have a slightly whiter light than the standard Halegon bulbs. Similar to how a 80 watt H4 bulb is brighter than a 55 watt. There is absolutely no comparison between a Silverstar and an HIR. The Silverstar is simply a tinted bulb, the HIR is a bulb designed for high output. The reason they exist was that John Deere wanted a bulb for their tractors that had greater output like an HID, with no increase in current draw, but at a lower cost. GE adapted the HIR technology to the 9012 and 9011 bulbs and HIR's were born.

Also as a note, I have the HIR high (9011) and low beams (9012) in two cars (a BMW 525i and a Toyota Landcruiser). The low beams are a incredible upgrade going from 1000 lumens of output to 1875 lumens. The high beams are a good upgrade, but not nearly as noticible as they go from 1700 lumens to 2500. For comparison a DS2 35 watt HID bulb puts out 3000-3200 lumens. My suggestion is if you are on a budget, do the low beams and hold off on the high beams. Finally, daniel stern has a ton of information about these on his website.

I am sorry about the double and triple post, i tried to fix my post but scionlife froze for a minute and didnt let me do anything.

Only Toshiba manufactures the real HIR technology and they go for around 100 and up. The ebay ones are ALL fake as of 1 am on June 7th.

yeah, that's a great price for those so i bought some! http://automotivelightingusa.com/ind...roducts_id=936

they are the polarg 3rd party brand. not sure if they are "true" hir or not, but i'll found out in about two weeks when i get my car and i'll test them out.

also, there is a guy that sells the real, current toshiba bulbs. here is a listing that just completed. he's out of town alot, but he has great feedback: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

i plan on buying the high-beam bulbs from him in a few weeks.

and just so you know, those ipf bulbs are the OLDER version of the bulbs. you don't want those. give the polargs a try or contact the guy on ebay or wait for him to put up another listing.

I wish you would have made this post like 3 days ago. I just bought some koito whitebeam bulbs. Although, I do not regret getting them because they are just how i like my lights. White with no blue tint and very bright.

Yeah, imma get a pair of 9006 and compare it to the lumnics and see how much brigther they are. These bulbs need to be modified alittle to work with our cars. Its illegal for them to produce it for 9006 so they produce it as 9011 9012 and theres an extra peg for it . Just sand it down and your set!
