How do i make my XA ride quiet like a Lexus?
Hello,
I just did a search for sound deadening but they did not specifially answer this question.
What kind of sound deadner or mat should i use to make my XA feel super quiet?
and which area's are most prone to road noise? thank you.

I have dynamat installed all over the interior of my box and it is super quiet on the freeway and around town but it does not ride like a Lexus. If you want it to ride like a Lexus then you should not lower it much or at all and do not go with a large rim and a low profile tire.

I would recommend Raamat or Second Skin Damplifier as a sound deadener. Both are buytl based and considerably cheaper than Dynamat extreme.
To properly deaden the xA, you'll need to deaden the floor and hatch area, doors, and the wheel wells. This will deaden most of the road noise. You'll probably need around 150-200 sq feet of mat, and a polyurethane undercoating spray for the wheel wells.
For a more quieter ride, you can get a second layer of acoustical foam dampener to enhance the mat.

Second skin and Raamat both sell versions of acoustical foam dampeners.

For the undercoating spray, you can grab it at any hardware store. The part number is MMM-08881, 3M rubberized aerosol undercoating spray. They work much better at absorbing sound than regular bedlining spray.
I would not recommend asphault deadeners like eDead. While they make great roofing insulation, they're just not designed for the automobile environment.

It's not suprising. Asphault deadeners are just not suited for the automobile environment due to poor heat tolerance.
Take my advice however you want it though. eDead is a very cheap and affordable way to deaden your car, but so is Peal&Seal (Asphault based roofing) which is generally the same material but considerably cheaper. (granted neither of which I would put in my xA)
Butyl based deadeners such as Second Skin Damplifier, Dynamat eXtreme, and Raamat are superior in almost every way.

lets see here the idea behind sound deadners is to add weight to an object the more an heaver an object is the less
likely it is to vibrate and transfer noise any metrial that adds mass will do
two thing to keep in mind
1. how well will it stick. if it does not stick it does no good
2. can it put off toxic fumes. things used for roofing? i dont think i would take that chance.

I just did my doors, hatch and entire rear section. Costs a lot less than other comparable deadeners. What a difference! Lots quieter, doors sound and feel solid. No more tinny "clink" when the doors lock. If the door handle is let go and allowed to snap back, here is no annoying hollow tincan sound. Just a solid thunk.
I did it for my sound system, but even just for quieting cabin and highway noise, it is the best upgrade I have done yet. BTW, it sticks like a ****. No heat gun needed.
Don't get the older v1...it is asphalt.

I'm not knocking on eDead, just the fact that asphalt has no place in our cars other than beneath the tires~
If you plan to deaden your car, do it properly!
