YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND 3 MONTHS INCOME...
You can have a very nice speaker upgrade for less than $600
here is mine
$ 120 JBL 452 front dash speaker (very few choices here)
$ 100 Pioneer TS-D161R Front door speakers
$ 10 SCOSCHE sat6 front door speaker mounts
$ 120 JBL 552 rear speakers
$ 10 SCOSCHE sascn656 rear speaker mounts
$ 150 Dynamat
$ 40 shipping
$ priceless Self install
----------------------
$ 550 total
If you want a amp add a simple 4 x 50W for about $200.
If you are afraid to self install ... most shops should install the above for about $200
I kept my head unit (scion ipod head unit upgrade) it has total power of 160W...which means in real terms it is about 20w per chann Nominal. The speakers above give me plenty of bass.
Come on guys .... spending $5000 to $10,000 on car stereo system ... Get real.

It's something unexpected plus I do a lot of car shows so if you're on the same scene then keep an eye out this year at the NOPI Nationals, I have something special for that one!
Good luck on whatever purchase that you make. It definately won't be your last. Peace............

$50 in Dynamat with nothing larger than a 6.5. Waste of money.
No offense but just because you dont agree with how much somebody spends on a system, doesnt make it wrong.
If you want to hear the stereo with your windows down, on interstate, you will need an amp for your highs, sub and sub amp.

There's always people out there making new stuff that's better in some way so I'd say go for it. It doesn't matter how much you spend right now, later on down the road you'll see something that you want that's just a little bit better and you'll probably get it anyways. It's all about customization man, just do what's best for you and what fits you. Once again, good luck. Peace.......

WELL first of all: Every car benifits from sound isolation such as dynamat. Unless you like noise????
And my target is quality of sound which was certainly improved by dynamat. In fact most people think I have a sub in my car because of the Plenty O Bass that is preserved due to Dynamat. I just bought some more to place on rear doors and added to rear lift gate.
I have heard many of those 10,000W (claimed) systems. And most are very loud but at normal listening levels they a lot of static due to the multiple high power amps. Some are really bad, in between audio tracks you actually hear a HISSSS that is louder than human speach...lousy.
I would rather have 10W of clean audio than 1000 watts of noisy audio.
Now I buy the audio system for MYSELF not people around me. I believe that building a stereo system so a loud Boom booms echos from down the block is STUPID, POINTLESS AND A WASTE OF MONEY. But hey it is your money...not mine.
I prefer to use that money elsewhere, like my retirement investments. Opps showed my age.
By the way continue with ridiculuously loud audio systems and when you get my age....you will trully MISS YOUR HEARING and the money you blew.
Peace, and ditto your "no offence"

AHH YES
The spacer to place on top of your rear speaker so you have a solid ring between the speaker and the grill on the rear panel.
When you remove the old rears you will see something similar.
It helps focus the speaker sound forward out the front of the grill. Or else the sound coming out of the front will bounce all around the inside or rear qarter panels. It will not sound too good and may cause panel vibrations.
The only place i found all the speaker mounts was cardomain.com
