Default How much power can the dome light wiring handle?

I'm getting ready to add some lights to the interior of my xB. Map lights in the headliner and probably lights in the side of the cargo area. I may also add something to light up the front floor when the door is open.

At what point is the wiring for the stock dome light overloaded? It seems to have a slow dimming feature so I'm assuming the door-open line is going through some sort of circuit. If I add two more lights to that circuit or the always-on lead will I be pulling too much? In another thread someone mentioned that adding a second light made his existing one dimmer.

Has anyone ran into a problem when splicing too many lights onto the dome light wire? Is there another convenient place to draw power for the cargo area lights?

What you need to do is run new wire to all your lights and have them meet up at a relay.

Use the dome light as your trigger and have a wire going to the battery or to the battery wire a tthe ignition harness. This way you wont have to worry about it becuase your only using the domelight wire as a trigger wire.
