Huge Capacitor instead of Beefed up Alternator?

Again, keep in mind that it matters whether or not the car will be running, as we talked about before. And if the car's not running the alternator's not doing anything. For example, in the Scion we now have 4 BatCap 8400 batteries for the new system. Charge them via charger at night, run during comps, never touch the alternator. In fact, with the voltage being up to 17.7 the alternator and main battery are separated from the main system.

Dammit.....so by investing in a 240amp alternator with my amps having the capacity to pull up to 300amps then I would be wasting my money?
I'm going to use mine as a daily driver.
I want it to where I can get my charging system to be able to handle what ever I throw at it and not have to charge any batteries or anything like that during the night. Is that possible?
Or am I SOL?

No, an upgraded alternator is not a waste of money. And although your amps "could" pull up to 300 amps I don't think they will be based upon what I know of your install, so I wouldn't worry that much about that aspect. And the alternator may very well do the job of charging your batteries. My suggestion is to get your install up and running, make sure the big three have been upgraded, make sure you are using a good battery with alot of reserve time, then see how your system performs and go from there. That's the only way you will know for sure what benefits your situation the most.
