Ignited Engine Start Din Panel
someone give me a second opinion on this item. i want to remove my ashtry/cigg lighter and replace it with this, assuming that the ashtray/cigg lighter is a standard din...
questions:
1. is the ashtray/cigg lighter a single din?
2. do you think this would fit there with minor modification?
3. it would need a bezel wouldn't it?
thanks guys.

for curiosity's sake, what is the measurements of a single din?

I have mine mounted on the left side. We slit the corners and sandwiched the panel.
I'll try to take some pics.
If you are in Orange..I work there on Main and Ball.
You can come and check it out.
I recommend and have Gary Nish do it. He did a clean job and a lot of people are liking it. This will free up you center compartment too.

it's nice... yea, ignited makes the one that replaces the cigg lighter, but if i could, i'd like to have switches there for other things instead of an ashtray i dont use. i'ma pop the cigg lighter ito another spot, probably on the side of the center dash.
yea, i'd like to see some pics of that... i was thinking of just doing something like that and just grind down the panels to make a slot for the panel. dunno until i get it and see exactly what i'm working with. got a black panel, red ignited engine start button, and red rocker switches from pepboys.com, 90 bucks for everything... lotta money, but it'll be bad ___ when it's done. :D

ups and fedex suck... i'm only going with usps from now on. i check the status cause it was supposed to be delivered today. it says "Excepted" "Package Missed"... i call UPS, the guy tells me the stupid driver left it at the UPS center when he was loading up this morning and then tells me it'll be here Monday for sure. anyways, i got all my supplies and what not, just waiting on that panel to come in so i can get to work on it. planned a weekend for it cause i knew it'd be alot of sanding, but now ups screws it up.

alright, got it pretty much done, got a lot more primer and sanding to do, but the shape is perfectly flat and flush. i'll post some pics when i get it done.
got some questions...
anyone know where i can buy some ignited rocker switches? i only bought one cause that's all the money i had at the time, but if i don't have the other 2 slots filled it will look weird. i need a place that is driving distance, don't wanna wait for shipping and what not considering the bad luck i've been having with shipping companies.
also, anyone know a clear adhesive film i can use instead of spraying it down with a bunch of clearcoat and polishing it. I remember seeing something like this before somewhere, it's got sticky backing and it's clear glossy, plus this would protect the paint as well.
besides that, thanks for all your guys help and opinions... right now i got the thing primered and sanded, need to put down about another can of primer to fill some little marks and then i can spray the main coat. came out pretty nice, i was surprised how easy the bondo was to use and with a sanding block it gets it nice and even. looks very "factory." :D

here's what it looks like so far, this is just primered, i put it back in to show the shape and how it matches still. i had to cut the top panel of it to make sure the engine start button wires had room... it will be painted black probably tomorrow. just going to be primering and sanding it today to get it ready.
