Default Installed my Valentine One

Hey whats up all. I am sure that you know about these radar detectors. I saved up and decided it was time to purchase my Insurance stabilizer after getting a couple tickets from the motorcycle police and just in time a week ago it saved me in 2 different instances.

I thought of a couple different places to mount but I think this is the best one and I only need to make one support mount so it wont bounce as much as I hit bumps.

Let me know what you think.

I highly recomend this radar and setup to anyone considering a Radar detector.

I know they make a remote display for that, have you considered doing something really stealth in the dash somewhere? I know someone on here posted an install with their detector display in the gauge panel, but don't know if the V1 remote display would fit there. There is plenty of room somewhere in the dash to put it though.

Not trying to put yours down. That's a great detector from what I've read. I just like the idea of a hidden detector.

The remote display or the actual detector/ The reason I did not go for a stealthy display and mount this behind a grill is because it is not meant to work when it is lower on the vehicle.

what does a radar detector do and how does it help you? what does it protect you against?

If you have to ask, then you don't need one! I think the xB may get targeted more than others. I hadn't gotten a speeding ticket for almost 10 years. Then I got one a few weeks after buying my xB.

Just contacted that guy and should have a price soon to see how much he charges! I know a guy that might be able to do this locally her in Boise so I will talk to him as well. I am guessing it will be around 100 bucks.

Just don't get too confident using the detector. I have a Passport X50 and sometimes it's super and others it's totally useless. For those who don't know the Passport is rated as good or better than the V-1 in most literature I've seen. I'm not trying to compare here. I'm just sharing info so the casual reader doesn't think the Passport is crap and I'm comparing apples and oranges.

On the interstate it's great. It always gives me plenty of warning long before I see a patrol car if they have their radar on. In the city it's great because city police leave their radars on most of the time and they transmit all over the place. They might as well have spotlights shining into the sky to let everyone know they are around. I'm sure the V-1 will point you right to them (the Passport doesn't give direction). Where it's almost useless is on the rural highways which is where I do most of my driving. If the police just leave their radar on, it's still really good but many of the troopers I run across use instant on and they don't turn it on until they know they have you. I've had three incidents where I would have gotten a ticket had I been speeding.

I've noticed that I drive slower since I bought my detector. It's like a little reminder of the cost of speeding.
