Default Installing/Mounting a Large (15in) flipdown screen in xb

I finally have enough money to get a 15 inch flipdown screen to put on the ceiling of my xb. My question is, where is there under the head liner to mount the screen? I heard from one person that there is a rail running down the center of the roof, and from another person, I heard they couldnt find anywhere to mount to. Does anyone know, and does ne one, by any chance have a picture of their head liner off?

you should put a thin peice of wood above the headliner.
cut the wood just bigger than the base of the monitor...
you would need to slide this in from the side of the car.

then screw into this to supprt the monitor...

So screw in the wood to some of the metal supports running across the top of the head liner.

no...just place the wood there...

when you screw the monitor to it, it will not move.

you might need someone to help keep the wood in place while you screw to it...

also, use short screws so they don't go through the roof!!!!

the best place to mount it, is right where the dome light is. thats where the rail is. then, the monitor should come with a mounting plate. secure the mounting plate behind the headliner, replace headliner, and attach monitor. no need for wood or anything else. just don't do it ghetto, and try to screw it to the headliner itself

I agree with scionracerxb there is no need for wood thats pretty ghetto. But i will say when i installed my 17'' flip down it did get a little tricky mounting that bracket to that beam where the dome light is! just be very careful when drilling the hole and DONT GO through the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put something between the beam and roof while drilling. Good Luck Man!!!!!! I love mine and so does everyone behind me while im driving!!!!!

the wood is the mounting plate...it is not ghetto, it is a standard method of mounting. (and you never see it)
the mounting plate that comes with the monitor is weak and lets the monitor shake. (more so if you only attach it to the one beam where the dome light is) having a mounting base that has a larger footprint than the monitor will eliminate any shakes.

yes, the domelight area is the best place for it, so make sure your monitor has some kind of light built into it....it will be dark in your car if you don't
