Default installing sub+amp without headunit having a sub rca preout?

So far out of the 5 car installs I did the headunits were brand new $200+ head units so they had a preout for the sub. My friend wants me to put in a head unit in his tiburon, but its a slightly older one he had sitting around and it doesnt have sub preouts and he wants to put an amp and sub eventually. How do I go about doing this, if he decides not to buy a new head unit? Would I need the hi-low level converter crap?

yup, just get a HIGH QUALITY....and i stress HIGH QUALITY high/low convertor. or, you can just buy a HIGH QUALITY amp that has high level inputs.

nope you dont need it well it depends if the amp you buy has high aux input then you would be able to use the rear speaker outputs - but trust me on this one if your installing a aftermarket headunit that doesnt have preoutputs on it trash it its way to old spend 100 bucks on a good headunit

Or how about a good converter and a three way x-over to give him the output he is looking for. I mean a nice one with a line driver to help clean up the signal

JL Audio Cleansweep or AudioControl ?LS6?.....those are really good converters.....

either go that route, or use the existing Hi-Level Inputs on the amp...if the amp doesn't have HLI's, then buy an amp that does or buy one of the aforementioned products..... the $20 Scosche converter will give you horrible SQ and output...
