Interference
Ok so I have some interference it appears on my reverse camera and monitor. I currently have the wire run from my trunk hatch into the car, down to the trunk floor and straight down the middle over the gear shift up into the dash.
Does anyone think there would be less interference if I ran the wire from the trunk hatch through the ceiling and down the A pillar into my dash?

If you are 100% sure that it's interference, then I would think there would be less interference if you ranthe cable through the roof.
If you are not sure what is causing it, and if it still occurs when running the cable overhead, then i would suggest getting better protection over the cable itself. you can go to radio shack or frys electronics and see the diff. types of cable coatings/covers/protectors they have...

Yea I am pretty sure it is interference. I purchased a new cable that is zero noise but to install it I have to take out alot of things that were just painted and Im afraid I may chip it. So I think I am going to try the roof first. Cross my fingers

Get the following supplies:
-Additional video source (can be anything that outputs a video signal)
-Additional monitor (TV or monitor that accepts the input that you use)
-Additional cable
1. The first thing I would do is plug in the other video source to your exsisting system to see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away I'd say it's the camera. If it stays reconnect the camera and move to step 2.
2. Plug in the extra cable from the camera to your monitor and see if the issue stays. If it goes away the cable was the problem. If it stays reconnect the original system and go to step 3.
3. Disconnect the monitor in the car and hook it up to your other monitor. With any luck you will get a picture that doesn't have the problem. If the problem persists you've got me.
One other thing you can try to is to make sure that all of your electrical connections are of high quality and secure, especially the grounds. Mark

Hey thanks. I will give that a try. I hope to look at it tomorrow. Have had no time this week. I could try adn get a pic of the actual issue.
The way the monitor looks is you can basically see some picture but then y ou will see these white lines coming down across the screen. If you use Windows Media Player when you play your mp3s at home and the one setting has that graphic that shows small lines shooting up and down along with the music. This is what it looks like. Today it was so bad I couldn't see anything out of it. Just shadows.

Well it looks like it may not be interference. I used a regular palm camera and hooked it up and everything worked fine. So it looks like it is the camera that is the problem.
I want to do one more test though. I have 2 wires connected because I didn't have one wire that was long enough. I pulled it apart in the middle to test the camera. I know want to test the camera in the back to make sure it is def the camera and not just one of the two wires.

Good luck. Most back up cams a very cheaply made, so that would be my first guess. Alot of times the connection is the problem. This is a very important part of the puzzle, because if you have a good signal it cant get anywere without a solid connection.
