Default longer iPod cable

IDK if this is an RS3 specific thing but i doubt it. im sure all iPod compatible radios came with the cable that connects down by the parking brake and runs up to the scion cup holder/ipod holder thingy. Well i want to put that in the rear cup holder. I Normally travel with my gf and its kind of annoying to only have one cup holder. does anyone know if a longer cable that will work? it doesn’t even need to be much longer. only a few inches.

how about alternative places? i dont want it to be in plain sight incase i forget to unplug it when i leave the car. I was thinking about in the pocket right next to the parking brake but that is my loss change spot and i dont think that will be a good thing for the ipod. also...there much be a cable going from the radio down to that plug. the thought if routing that cable into the oven has crossed my mind. then just shoving all the extra cable behind the dash.

i have about 5 feet of cable on mine becuase it connects to the rear of the radio so it reaches the back seat and thats pretty cool when you have your DJ in the back seat.

Aux in my radio. I have an 05' which didnt bring the external AUX input like the nwer Scions. I had to change my radio for kenwood source unit, which only cost me about $140.00 on ebay and i was also able to install my Sub without having to change the radio.

standard 1/8 headphone cable is easy to find. But if your talkin about the square ended, wiring harness style, actual scion ipod cable, i think your outta luck. its a super funky cable. Unless some one carries it, you will need cable with a female ipod connection(long n skinny) and a male connection on the other side and hook it up as an extension.

damn...sounds like im outta luck then. i wonder if i can reroute the cable that goes from the head deck to the plug by the brake?!

What bugs me is i nearly always have a bottle of water in the car with me. and if my gf has one she has no place to put hers. the current cable is soooo close to fitting. that’s the aggravating part.

heres my solution. i have a DLO cloth/rubber cover on my 60gig. I lay my ipod on its side in the skinny cubby next to the e brake with the plug in end facing the shifter As long as you have some kind of non slick cover on it, it wont slip, slide or bounce around and the ipod seems to fit there well. You can then put the foam ipod holder in the cupholder thing inside the passenger side dash cubby. this was cool because it left my LED cupholders open for bottles

I have a 60gb photo that stays in the car 24/7.

The cable comes out of the connector, does a "U" turn straight down between the seat and console and goes where the jack sits under the seat. The pod is in a case, hidden by the plastic cover, and just lives there until it needs an update.

Out of sight, out of mind.

^^^^ AGREED!!! you cannot repear, CANNOT, keep an iPod in a car in scorching heat because it will start messing up. My dad has changed his iPod about 3 times and he keeps on asking me why does this happen when you have never had to change yours. Simple answer, DONT LEAVE IT IN THE CAR!!! Extremes of hot and cold will kill the iPod.

No problems here yet...knocks on wooden head!

Hot in SoCal=110, cold=40ish. Average 85~90/45~60. Sorry for you all that have to wrestle worse weather. No extremes here.

If it dies, it goes back to Best Buy under PSP. If anything, I was more worried about shock and vibration since its a HD. Its been there since November of 2005 and 15K miles and working fine.

My "daily use" iPod is a 60gb video, so if the one in the xB dies, I am not without sounds.
