So you're saying you have it wired to the original harness? The point of getting a new one was to replace the old one. Cutting, stripping, and soldering the 2 wires together is the best procedure in replacing a wiring harness and will work just as good as the original. You may want to use heat shrink tube to protect the exposed wire too.

Sorry I don't think I was very clear.

When it comes to replacing a 'harness' is it just the plastic plug on the end that is being replaced, not the wire?

So for those people that splice into their oem harness and put a "beefier" harness on the end, what about the original wires? Wouldn't they be too thin to handle the load? What's the point of attaching thicker wires with a better plastic clip on the end if the crappy wires you attach them to could get too hot and get fried? I don't get it.
