Would you be able to still see those compartment lights even with a bunch o crap in them (glovebox and storage under A/C?) I'd love those for my autoBox but what would be the point if you couldn't see it...

what turns the lights on and off?
are they automatic to the opening and closing of each door, or are they all controled from one master switch.
al, i think the glove box light will be ok if its full of stuff. the ac-compartment is questionable as the light look to be on top but in the back.
still better than nothing...

NCscion: I used the Hypnotiq series cold cathode fan grills (these come with a clear casing, so I'm going to hit them with stained glass paint to make them redder)
Al.Truistic: The glove box lights are fully visible with stuff in the box because it's mounted above the box. The junk box light gets a little blocked, but I only keep sunglasses and CDs in there so it shines through/reflects off them.
DgHotLava: There's one master switch that turns all of them on and off.
Al.Truistic again: The junk box was done this way:
1. Remove dash and junk box/cigarette lighter/ashtray setup.
2. Drill a small hole in the lower right hand corner of the junk box, right next to the brace that keeps it in the dash.
3. Attach a 6" cathode in the top back of the box (I used velcro) and pull the wire through the hole you drilled (you're going to have to open the inverter and unplug the cathode to fit the wire through the hole).
4. (This is where we start putting everything back together) Pull the cathode power wire through the hole in the mounting for the box/lighter/ashtray and plug the cigarette lighter back in.
5. Mount the inverter behind the dash and wire it to your power and ground (it helps to pull off the glovebox when doing this).
6. Wait until nightfall.
7. Find sunglasses, put them on.
8. Turn on your lights and marvel at your technical prowess
This was far and away the most difficult and frustrating light i've done yet, and I reccomend you get comfortable with wiring and lighting before you do it.
The cathodes in back were pretty easy. All the body panels snap off with minimal effort, so all you have to do is pull up the door sills and pull power back. The light is mounted to the sheetmetal on the side of the car.
If you're going to do red lights, i reccomend you pick up a can of Krylon Stained Glass Paint and paint them before you mount them. It will make them a little dimmer but a lot redder. Also, use stranded wire throughout your setup, it will make your life much easier.
