Default Mp3's on DVD?

I have a Avic-N1 and want to know if I can burn mp3's on to a dvd to play in it. I figure I could put a hell of alot of MP3's onto a dvd versus cd. If this is possible will it have to be on a dvd-r or dvd+r and do I have to use a certain program? Does it have to be burned as a dvd-rom or what? I am stupid about this stuff sorry peeps.

Because I wasn't sure if anyone has already done this already and if it is even do-able.
I have burned some onto a dvd+r by using record now and burning it as a data disc like i do for cd-r's but it didnt work. Thats why I would rather see if someone else has done it and just do it the right way instead of wasting time and dvd's.

no one has an answer. if i had a dvd burner, or a indash dvd i would have tried by now. let us know with your results cause i've been interested for over a year now.
thanks
Jim

well I tried it and it worked...I have a stand alone dvd player (nesa dvd-9000) and burned it to a generic off-brand 4x dvd-r and used Nero Burning Rom ver. 5.5.10.15 now i have a 4gig mp3 dvd jmark1998 do movies on your dvd+r play on your avic-n1? I'm just wondering cause if it doesn't then try burning your mp3s and movies into dvd-r. I'm also going to get the avic soon so I'll update once I do.

Hope this helps,

I burn my movies onto dvd+r using nero burning rom 6 and they work fine in my Pioneer Avic-n1, my Kenwood Excelon KVT910DVD, and my Kenwood Excelon KDVC810 DVD changer. What format did you use on nero, dvd-rom? On my nero there are a couple diff formats and I usually only use dvd video to make movies. Here are the others: DVD-ROM (ISO), DVD-ROM (BOOT), DVD-ROM (UDF), DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO).
Did you use one of those and if so which one? Thanks for any help guys.

To make it easier, if your version of Nero includes Nero Express, then run that and choose to create a data disc for MP3 burning.

ok on nero wizard click dvd, compile a new dvd, data dvd, create a new dvd, then put all your mp3s, click burn without multisession so it finalizes the dvd...happy burning.

btw i used DVD-R

hope this helps,

Okay guys please bare with me as I am stupid when it comes to computers. Here is the specs of my computer with dvd burner built in.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bph08441.pdf

Now I just bought some dvd-r's to try and get my mp3's on a dvd. But when i run nero to burn the mp3's onto dvd it won't highlight the burn option. I am guessing this is because this burner doesn't do dvd-r is this right? atleast it does dvd+r and that works on my movies. Can anyone tell me if this is right?

That's probably the reason the Burn button is not highlighted...because Nero doesn't see any recordable media in the drive. Your burner uses +R and +RW DVDs. Pop one of those in and you should be all set.

I've tried some of my dvd+r's and I can't get it to work. I may be doing it right but maybe the AVIC-N1 won't recognize it for some odd reason.

Jmarks1998,

hey man I just installed my avic-n1 tonight and sadly to say that even my DVD-R mp3s didn't work on it. I guess the avic can't read that format for some odd reason cause it worked on my Nesa. so i guess ill just have to use my other dvd player .

here are pics of my install...i still need to fill in the gaps on the side.
