Default Multiple amp into a single woofer wiring?

I haven't ever done this, and was wondering how do people usually do this? With say a SoloX that needs ~5K for a 12", lets say I have 2 XTR Pro 2400... Do I just wire the sucker (dual 1 ohm in series = 2 ohm load) + / - into BOTH 2400's + /- terminals? Does this mean that both amp will see a 2 ohm laod?

Please seriously don't post an answer if you have never done this before... I want to try to score me a SoloX 18" if possible and try to multiamp it when time comes...

this is not easily done...ive done it with one rockford fosgate 15inch dvc hx2....u need some way to measure the output of each amp....there is many meters out there u can use to measure the output voltage....i just looped 35-45-55hz tone's measured the output voltage of one amp then adjusted the gain on the other to match....each amp drove one voice coil of the sub....this sub was driven with rockford 1001bd's and hit extremely friggen hard
measure with voltmeter in a/c mode
the trick to making it easy is...is the running the same tone at the same frequency at the same volume and then mathing the gain controll on the amps....
ok im tired....tiz late
oh u cant wire the amps in parallel unless there were designed for it.....so use 1 amp per coil on the sub
i should drive to san fran just to see that sub

Why in the world would you want such a poor subwoofer? I hope you don't plan on having it sound good...

That thing wont handle 5k daily, either. I've been witness to the SoloX 18" getting dessimated by a Zapco 4kW, as a matter of fact, thats the same day I beat the guy by a full db, 4 classes below him, with only 1 - 18" RC HC 18, and half the wattage... oh yea... he had 2 - soloX 18's and 2 zapco 4kWs... Mine was a street install.. his was a superstreet (seats removed, etc)

Not to mention, mine sounds a whole hell of alot better.

But, yea. What you described would work. Gain matching will help the output be all it can be. Just do as the man described above and you'll be fine.

What sort of numbers are you hitting because if you are hitting anywhere in the 140's - 150's it would be hard pressed to say one setup sounds better than the other. Numerically you would be able to declare that one is louder, but it is a little hard to distinguish quality when you are hitting 150+ dbs.

Just a thought.

152's consistantly.

Sounds very clean doing it, too.

But it's said that you're not suppose to amp one VC to one amp with the L7s...

My actual setup will most likely end up with 1 XTR Pro 2400 and 2 S15L7s 2 ohm series DVC then parallel to make a 2 ohm load to get the 2400 out of the XTR... I'm planning to get the tC and the only problem seems to be space...

I however might opt to test a SoloX just for the pure learning curve... I've been into audio for a good 8 years now and the only thing I haven't tried is Bi Amping...

How does balanced inputs on a single amp work? Would you be able to do stereo hookup of a DVC? I know balanced inputs are just to increase volume, but say if the amp does have equal levels on gains.. You can actually hook up the DVC in stereo to get lower impedence operations out of the amp and set the amp to mono...

I don't expect a SPL sub to sound good, but I've heard a lot of subs and the Kicker subs haven't really dissapoint me...

Seriously kicks ___ to finally figure out how this is done :D

Hey Jdaniels, how bout backing off slamming peoples gear? Not everyone likes or has heard of RE. One of our crew has Resonant Eng. and it slams. One has Kickers it slams. We have different likes and we don't need someone busting out our gear. Denny from SE works for crossfire and he is not slamming all the other gear. Post something positive for change.By the way what does your RTA Curve look like and how well does your car stage? It not all about SPl. Bill

I'm gonna have to back up Bill on this.

Jdaniels.........you are welcome to your differing opinion.........but do you even know how to voice it in a way that isn't just blatanly negative, self serving, and often downright offensive? Or was that part of your brain damaged by your awesome, uber SPL system that slams so hard?

Learn how to disagree respectfully. I have yet to see anything of value from you..........only trash talking.

Well, all I iknow is that 152 isn't anywhere near louder than what some people get with Kicker stuff, so bash the guy not the stuff... I can probably do an install with any woofer and get 152 as long as the car is a hatch and is shaped like a box... Throw in a TON of sound deadening and you got yourself a SPL car... Just pump as much wattage in as you can warm up the sub, then blow it... It don't have to sound good...

But anywho, I want to thank those that stayed on topic... I've finally learned what the question asked... (also from a private msg too)

As for scionxb04, this post isn't brag about your SPL... So start a new thread and let the flame wars being else where...

One last ON TOPIC question tho, I've seen people do 3 amps into one woofer... How is this done and is it safe?

3 amps to one woofer is someone lying, or someone that has a tri-coil woofer.

As for me, I have this in my 97 Grand Cherokee. The box is a mere 6.01 cu/ft vented to 30hz with 76sq/in of port and no bracing. It was meant to be a test for a daily driver box and I never got around to changing it. It is by no means for SPL. All I know, every show I've gone to, I've cleared all of the stock classes without a problem. I was in stock 2, I anihillated stock class 1 - 4+ and super stock 1 and 2,

Also, sound deadening is not for SPL, most cars that use sound deadening lose SPL.

Yeah.....because the rattling of the headliner adds a couple dB.

Now, thats just uncalled for. This forum needs to grow up, everyone here thinks they have everything figured out. When someone with knowledge comes in, you guys just bash them.

Just because I'm more knowledgable in car audio than 99% of the people in here, I don't deserve to be bashed.

Nope......knowledge doesn't bother anyone.

People that think their $hit don't stink does.

Display your knowledge all you want.......but be respectful about it.

And you REALLY knew what you were talking about concerning s40 Volvo's didn't you? But hey.......you were still JUST as cocky.

So your cockiness isn't a by-product of your knowledge.......it's obviously just a by-product of your sub-par personality.

Knowledge alone doesn't gain you respect. Superior knowledge........coupled with a humble and positivel attitude will make you an idol.

You crack me up. You know that the most cocky people here are the ones that you worship. I bet anything that if one of those people said exactly what I said above in the same context you'd probably agree with them, then kiss their behinds.

What the heck is this, politics? This is a forum. You guys think that a post count means that you're god, but it doesn't. I frequent most car audio forums, and I'm well known at most...

S40 Volvo's are much out of our price bracket, they should never have been compared... Compare them to 3 Series BMW's and Saab 9-3's...

Understand that I don't mean to come off cocky, and text is very hard to transmit emotion, things are very easily skewed when emotion and accent is removed. Remember this.
