My LAPTOP IN A BOX setup -Tablets rock ur sox!
#41
UPDATE----
I have built this mount and will be testing it in my xB this weekend. i also have replaced my x41 laptop
with an x41 tablet laptop!!! so i'll have a touch-screen ON-dash computer.
This isn't the prettiest mount but it is something simple that works (theoretically =P) and it's very
easy to remove. the only physical "mod" i'll have to do is to remove the xb cubby door since it will get into
the way of the mount. no biggie though.
I took the piece of metal that i was using
and bent it into the shape shown in the diagram above (in red). I covered this metal with a hankerchief and taped it on.
Again, not pretty, but functional and it'll save the inside of the xb cubby hole from getting scratched as the
mount "moves around" during driving.
I also have the foam padding that i was going to use ready. I got this
from one of the boxes that one of my routers came in. again, i'll take
pics and put them up!
I hope this is giving people some ideas. =]

Yeah.. I'm glad you decided to stop calling it a carputer... it's definitely a ... how do you say... laptop, folded open, sitting on a stand, in a car.
I'm all about taking your computer on a road trip so the family can watch movies. And if you have the Aux jack built-in, then all you have to do is plug it in and have CD quality sound.
I just wanted to make sure I got in that, umm... yeah, it's a laptop.

lol - everyones knockin' me for this. I just feel that, because of my situation, I can't install a built-in/wired-in
PC. I have 2 thin client pc's that i have ready that i was going to use for this but decided not to. not
only that but i dont have to run any "additional" wires (power, mouse + keyboard, monitor, etc) so this
is the best solution for me.
I've already built the mount and when i get to see my car this weekend, im going to "install" it and mount
the laptop. hopefully the mount holds!

ps - this is a pic of the laptop itself. the screen twists and folds over the keyboard so you dont have a keyboard
sticking out at you. and when you do need the keyboard, it's there. this is a single piece solution for what i
wanted! woot woot!
