NES carputer install (With Pics) UPDATED molded screen pics!

Alright so I made a bezel for the screen to make it look more flush with the dash, and help stop the thing from moving around a little when i touched it. This is only my second time using Bondo for anything like this. and I think it turned out good.
Minor sanding after initial amount sculpting.
after I got the thing to fit and after paint
There are some spots that once I got the thing in realized needed some more work. but hey it works for now and its functional. and thats all I wanted.

If you're into Mini-ITX motherboards, I recommend checking out MSI's Fuzzy690T. It hasn't hit the market for sale yet, but it will soon. I can't wait for this board to come out! I'm thinking of installing a 40" HD LCD in the back and running it off the Fuzzy's HDMI connection! That ought to get some attention!
Stay FAR away from any VIA mobos! They are nothing but trouble and VIA's support is pure $#!t. I have gone through 4 of their top-o'-the-line boards and have had nothing but issues; from not ID'ing any HDDs at POST to strange BIOS anomalies to random high-pitched squealing from the audio, etc., etc., Right now, my unit is running fine, but I periodically have crazy issues.
You NEED to stick with the NES case! That is just F***in' GREAT! I LOVE IT!!!

Nice setup. Just a suggestion, flat black may look better on the bezel.
When I did my screen, I didn't go with a bezel but due to differences in the screen plastic color and trim, it ended up not looking right. I finally painted the screen trim flat black and it looked perfect. Though when I did the trim piece for the radio, I sanded smooth and the flat black didn't match. After roughing it up slightly with some textured paint, it came out looking factory.
Also, what software are you using as your front end? Roadrunner, street deck? I'm on a mac so I've been using Front Row and the Apple remote for now on iTunes. Oh, and there are USB radio tuners out there, none that I've found that work well though. Final thought, check out www.mp3car.com if you haven't yet, it has a good store and awesome forums for carputers.

Well my upgrade is complete nothing visible has changed on the screen I chose to just smooth out all of the wrinkles I had in it from before. I've changed the NES a little but nothing too outright noticeable. I'll get some pics up soon.

This is awesome! I've been thinking about a Mini Mac, but I'm going this route. I may get a Mini ITX tower, but I've picked out everything from NewEgg and here's what I have so far...
Intel Celeron 215 with a 533 MHz system bus 479 SiS 662 Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo - $69.99
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 - $33.99
Western Digital Scorpio 80GB ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - $59.99
USB 2.4 GHz RF Mini Inter-Media Wireless Keyboard with Pointing Device Mouse Included - $39.99
Sony NEC Optiarc Combo CD/DVD-R - $41.99
CP TECHNOLOGIES WNC-0301 PCI 54Mbps Wireless Adapter - $20.99
Original NES Main System (No Controllers, No Games) - $22.00
Audiobahn 7" LCD Screen - $59.99
Edited to add:
PicoPSU-120 12V DC-DC ATX power supply - $49.99
I have a copy of XP I can use. I'll need iTunes, Opera, some sort of virus software/Spybot and maybe WinAmp or something. Should be a nice system! Did you try yours in the home before you finally installed it? Are you using VGA to the monitor? I was hoping to use DVI in, but I might need an adapter. I have a 60 GB iPod, so I'll run that through the system as well. What's the actual version of XP you have? You say stripped down, what's gone from it? Do you have an aftermarket reciever? If so, how did you mount it in the ez-bake? I took my trim ring off and it will fit for sure. I'll have to cut the back off the pocket, but it'll fit. As far as getting the audio to the reciever, I have a Kenwood deck, so I'll probably just use 1/8 to RCA and get an AUX input adapter for the deck. I also have a Motorola Q and for those of you that know, you can use them (and a lot of other phones) as modems, so you can always be connected! Can't wait to do this! Thanks for the write up, hard work and awesome idea!
