It's a ZIF socket. A portion of the top of the socket actually slides up and down, locking the ribbon cable in place. Pop up the socket tab with a small screwdriver or knife, and the ribbon cable will slide right out.

ive been wanting to do this mod for some time now.

so now its time.
i sent an email to chad about what i wanted.
im going with a Ferrari type face plate with a scion emblem insted of the horse.
its going to be hot.

ill post pics when i get it installed

i just did a background swap on my xb, now the speedom. needle doesn't work. Did you have this issue at all?
