Default New sub w/ pics

Today I put in my new MTX sub in my custom built box. I used to have 2 12's in a huge box that took up the whole trunk, I was sick of not having a trunk anymore so I made the smallest box I could and fitted it right up against the rear seats with a 75 degree angle to get as much room out of the trunk as possible. Now I just have one MTX Thunder 5550 10" sub and it sounds great.

This is what happends when you are bored in your enginnering graphics class. I drew up a model of the box in Cadkey.

I made a cardboard model to test fit.

Here's the test fit.

Here's the final box, carpeting was a pain to get it to look seemless.

Here's the final product. I finally have a trunk again.

Box Specs:
Volume - 0.88 Cubic Feet
Surface Area - 678.5 Square Inches
Height - 11.5 Inches
Length - 14 Inches
Width - 12 Inches

Looks good, but it's generally a bad idea to bolt your sub to the box. It's easier to steal everything that way.

Looks great. I have my 10w7 in a almost identical enclosure in my Xb, however I put my amp in the floor next to the spare tire.

did you put stain or finish on the inside..i was told by someone cant rember who but they said that it will make the box more sealed in the corners...dont know if thats true...never tryed it myself...i was also told that it's not good to put the amp on top of the box like that with out some type of spacer to have it not touching the box had something to do with the magnet getting hot and stronger thus burnning the amp or something like that but not sure of that either...any know for a fact???

I did something similar. I got a momo sub in a box thats probavbly the same size and put the amp in the space next to the spare tire.

If you mount it under the front seats, it should be fine. At least that is what I have been told.

Now, under the BACK seat, I would think it would get hot, but I am not sure about that.

u should stick the amp somewhere else its bad to have it on the box...the sub can cause damage.

yeah- always heard to put the amp away from the box due to vibrations or something...

I've got my amp in the styrofoam cooler thing next to spare. it hasn't melted anything nor blown a fuse- so all good for now. You could always (and I will before the summer) mount a fan or two in there to circulate air. I had my amp under driver seat, but it was too long, and wires didn't look safe there.
