Default New xB, Blue LED Kit installed, Cup Holder LED are Purple?!

Hey all,

New to forums....just bought my g/f a 2006 Scion xB. Great car, love it to death.

She had the Blue LED kit from scion installed. Under the dash it looks great, Bright Blue.

The Cup holders though are not, they are completely Purple. Dealer tells me they don't have Purple,
but it might just be a defective pair, but they have never seen it before.

Anyone heard of this happening? I'm trying to get some backup for when I speak with Service tomorrow.

Here's video: savefile.com -&nbspThis website is for sale! -&nbspFile Sharing Resources and Information.

Thanks!

Mackie

Welcome to SL and congrats on you purchase. You might want bring the box to the dealership and have look at the color. It could be a wiring issue or the LEDs are not getting enough power.

Either too little or too much. Also, throw down a piece of paper in front of the LED in question and take a snapshot. Take the shots around dawn without a flash and you should be able to get a good detail of the difference.

Welcome to the moshpit.

Default purple lights

Scion OEM cup holder lights are variable lights! Push the "illum" button in the center shifter console and the color will change.

Push until you get the desired color, there is also an "OFF" setting and two setting where the colors change constantly!

Enjoy

Default hmmm

You can adjust the cupholder light? I don't see how....I guess holding the button maybe? From what I can see here are the options:

1st - Turn on Cup Holder
2nd - Turn on Cup Holder and Floor
3rd - Turn on FLoor Only
4th - Turns all off

So are you saying you can hold the button down and it will adjust? Or is it something connected the wiring under the console....[/list]

I have them (blue) and my switch is exactly like you said, Mackie1604. There is no color adjust, it's one LED lamp....

Mine has a square button with a cup on it, when you push it down it goes through the change of colors as it is pressed. Try it and see if that helps.

Oh no...they're purple.

Trust me.

Well, my tC ones are...after changing everything else out...those really ____ me off.

Actually, if you have some blue power tops from lc-led, and do a swap, you'll notice that the hi-beam blue is actually purplish as well

I see no way to change the color of the light.....

I had my girlfriend "Hold" the button down in a couple different ways, nothing....

Dealer is kinda clueless, but I'm taking it back this week for them to look at it.

I would guess that's there some type of a power supply plugged into this.....I wonder were it is for the cupholders.

tC = tapped into the cigarette lighter, just a resistor on an LED jammed in a hole...horribly simple really.

They look blue in your video, but I'm sure you already know that! Mine are on the purple side of blue also and were installed by the dealer in November when I picked up my box. The single lamp LED in the cupholder is a different lamp than the tubes under the dash and unfortunately I think yours are normal. If you put a plastic bottle of water in the cupholder it will reflect as more blue than purple. My LEDs are never turned off and I enjoy the light all the time. I'm sure you'll get used to it!

If you think those are blue, you need to get your eyes checked....

Dealer called me and said they had another car come in with Blue for service, and saw they are very purple as well.

I told them they can pay to remove mine and put in another color then...cause Purple is not what I paid for and I shouldn't have to have a bottle of water in them to make them BLUE.

Duh?

Please don't take my response as rude either. It's just frustrating. It seems stupid to some people, but I paid alot of money for this car and nearly $300 for the stupid LED's. Frankly, they can take them out and give me my money back.
