Default "Parking Pole"?

I must not be an "enthusiast" (as the auction states) because I have NO idea what this is...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6763

Anyone care to enlighten me?

To help parking in very tight spaces. It pops up and has a light at the top so you know how close you are to hitting something.

It's a real JDM part and pretty cool but not worth the price itll bring. Buy a power antenna module kit and DIY for less than a hundred. just my opinion though.

i really want one but just cant afford it yet

moved...

its a stick that will rise up out of the bumper (like a power antenna)
this helps to 'know' where the end of your car is...mercedes had little ones by the trunk on some models...

geeeez... That seems pretty lazy, especially on a vehicle with a short, square hood! I could see it if your car had a long hood (like a Crown Vic), was rounded in the front (like a VW), or BOTH, but in the xB you're not *that* far away from the front bumper anyway!

Sounds like a waste of perfectly good technology!

They're kind of like headlight washers or HIDs. You don't really need 'em, but you have 'em anyway.

It is actually for the Japanese market. Since they have small streets.

There's a Camo xB running around my town with curb feelers and chrome air horns mounted over the drivers door...

Not only caddys but that is where you would see them most.

ill agree with you on the headlight washers .... but not needing HIDS?? thats the dumbest thing i ever heard

lol

get in a car that comes with a good set of OEM hids .. drive it around for a day or 2 .. and then tell me you dont need em ...

now there is a difference between needing em and affording em .. hids are expensive but 100% nessecary ... all cars should come with them .. they just arent cost effective to have on all cars

Interesting idea, but I'd prefer rear sensors over those front parking thingies..

Curb feelers were before my time as well.... they were these wire/spring things that made noise when they hit the curb, so you could park your big old fur interior caddy without scuffing the whitewalls on the curb

Whatever happened to just knowing how to drive and park your car? Are the Japanese that inept? I've done pretty well for YEARS and I've never had to have a "parking pole" on any of my cars! Sounds like they need to practice their parking skills.

SO, why don't the Japanese just use curb feelers?

Curb feelers are to keep from scratching your big fancy rims on the curb. (or curbing them)

I'm going to assume the "parking pole" is more for assistance for the front of the car... wouldn't have a whole lot to do with the curb.

Actually its for the curb too... remember what side of the road theyre on

Yea it helps tell how close they are to the stuff on the left, because theyre on the left

I can see the parking pole showing up on slammed Crown Vics... with 13 inch gold spoked rims, limo tint, and one of those mini satellite dish antennas on it for the stereo antenna
