Best known premium brand? Alpine, for sure.

Alpine makes decent decks, but their speakers/amps/subs can't even touch alot of the brands listed above.

Except for their F1 speakers. Which are made by one of th aforementioned companies, namely Scanspeak.

Alpine makes excellent decks. Used in numerous world champion vehicles. Brands like Eclipse, Denon, and Nakamichi are high end for sure. But for some reason these competitors with their seemingly bottomless pockets buy Alpine.

Well, the question wasn't "who is the best premium car audio manufacturer?" (and there are many better manufacturers than Alpine) but "what is the best known premium car audio manufacturer?" I think most people will agree that Alpine is a premium manufacturer, and I think most people know of Alpine (unlike most of the other brands that car audio enthusiasts know but the average person has never heard of.)

Best reasonably priced would be CDT, Alpine/Pioneer Premier/Kenwood Excelon,
All good...However my advice is read the specs and know what the internals are and judge every product by its own merrit. As examples a while back Pioneer had amps that were dual mosfet, 3db headroom and a slew rate of about 43..and they were CHEAP and kicked a$$ smae goes for some Blaupunkt speakers I had they put out 94db@1W. They were loud and clean although the rest of their products were mediocre. So what I am saying is do research don't just follow brands :D

Default ALPINE

I am going to have to say ALPINE.

They are the "Blaupunkt" of today.

I could mention this brand to anyone I know of any age and they would have at least heard the name before.

It has achieved a brand of quality not cheapness like Jensen.

I could come up with many more reasons, but I want to keep this post brief.
