Default Playstation 2 in your Scion without carrying your games!

I had a Playstation 2 gathering dust on the shelf for the past 2 years. I can count the number of games I have played on it on one hand in those 2 years. I am mainly a PC gamer. I knew from day one that you could put a hard drive inside it (NOT the new slimline models) but never gave it much thought. Well, after upgrading my PCs I found that I had an extra 120GB Seagate Hard Drive and did a little research. here is what I found :

This program : http://www.hdadvance.com/index.htm

+

The Sony Playstation Network adapter (This has the IDE connector for the hard drive).
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=1974925

+

A hard drive of your choice (compatibility list) :
http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/

=

The ability to download any PS2 game you own onto your Playstation 2 Hard Drive and then play it from the hard drive. This can be done without any type of mod chip or modification to your PS2. Leave your discs at home!

Not all games will run off a hd, make sure you read up on it before you buy anything.

only drawback on this is you can only get up to 120gb HD I'm already on my 2nd HD! if you guys wanna check which games don't work ..:Click Me:.. one of the best thing about HDloader is the load time...much much cleaner. too bad you can't do it to the new slim PS2

Why would it be? so long as you're playing games you've already bought. Just like burning CD's you've bought, you're allowed to backup your files (songs), it's when you download games/music you haven't bought that you're violating copyrights

Don't get HDAdvanced, get HDLoader. Reasons, Loader is one disk, Advanced is two, so you could keep your cd in your PS2 and don't have to worry about changing it. Not to mention, Advanced is the stolen code of Loader. I've been using HDLoader for about a year now, its very very easy to use and makes the games faster (load time wise). 75% of the games work with it, there are list available online (GT4 DOES NOT WORK). I've been using HDloader with Gamefly and....borrowing games. Good Fun!!

HDAdvance is 2 discs, one for DVDs and one for CDs. I have only had it a few days now. The only reason I got HDAdvance is because that is what came up in my research.

As far as legality is concerned, yes if you 'rent' games then copy them to your hard drive that is illegal. It is just as illegal as renting a movie and copying it.

At this time there are not any harddrive solutions for the Slim PS2, although the idea would be pretty cool.

HDAdvance version 2 supports larger hard drives... or so I understand.

BE AWARE: western digital hard drives WILL NOT fit in the PS2 without modification to the network adapter.
