Have 2 12" Fogate T1's in a custom box. It's louder than the 4 jl12w3's I had in there before.
Yep I would have to agree with the install aspect.

Chipz-
Your rims look hot what are they?

I got the axis spider with a 2" lip. Here is the link
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...&highlight=ugh

I like yours though....at least what I can see from that little pic....

Yeah I think I heard a similar story about a guy with a S10 with 4 LVS and he only needed 2 of them and selling the others....
Not that it matters but I don't like the Memphis colors.....Orange.....

So how bout some more SPL ratings?

Yea the install itself has alot to do with the spl. Heres the thing though 140-150 is not hard to achieve at all. But 150-170 its very difficult to hit. Almost any sub will hit a 140-150 its all about how far you are willing to go with it. A shop in PA hits a 171 with 1 15" in a pinto. But its not something you can drive or sit in anymore.

So in your opinion is 147 enough?
Was that measurement taken from your xB or another vehicle with the equipment?
Does that rattle your brain?
Do you have a hard time hearing your components?
Can people hear you for blocks?
Let me know.......

It was recorded in the xb. 147 is pretty loud. I'd say you can hear it for blocks. It gives you a good rattle.I had a 96 jetta before the xb, I hit a 155.3 in it. That rattles your brain. Almost too much. Components sound perfect still. Have Boston pro series components, sound sweet . Even at first without upgraded components it wasn't that bad you could still hear them. It's perfect for me and everyday driving and listening. I've had many systems and experiences with a lot of different stereo companies/brands.I was a major JL fan till I got the fosgates. There are a awsome sub...

Any pics of your stereo?
A link or something?
I was in the same boat with JL (But I am still a big fan) but I heard the new MTX line....
7500's they really impressed me. Not only with their design improvements but in comparison to other brands.....
I even heard the 9500 against the W7...they were in diffenent enclosures so I wouldn't go as far to say that the 9500 will out perform the W7.
The guys at car toys told me that the W7 hits a broader fq range and is just plain out better.
I can't lie though the 9500 will take it in the SPL (In my opinion) the excursion of it was NiCe.......
Once again there are so many factors to get the max from your system:
Install
Port vs Sealed
Clean Power from amps
Overall system design
Reliability of the product you are using

If I could hit the Mid 150's with 2 12's or 2 15's I will probally just do that.....
I want something that I can't turn up all the way unless I am outside of the car.....
Of course I don't want to break my windows or anything like that.......lol

I was gonna go with 2 MTX 9500 12". They are just too expensive.Like the w7. Too expensive. Then you need the power for them plus the box. The box now is slotted/ported.I get some pics in a bit. kenwood amps. Boston components and kenwood deck.I not even pushing my subs to the max. Fosgate also makes a T2 sub now. They will hit 150's I'm sure. But again pricey. That's why I like the T1. Not too pricey and they sound sweet. I might soon here get a third T1. Then I know I'll be in the 150's. It's an idea.

I already have my amps.....
2 Eclipse PA4212 amps for my Components (130 x 2 RMS@4ohm)
1 Eclipse DA7232 amp fpr my subs (1000 x 2 RMS@2ohm)

The DA7232 is a beast and would push 2 9500 great....actually any high powered top of the line sub would do.

That's why I was thinking of getting 4 of the MTX 8500's in the single 4ohm voice coil so I could wire 2 to each channel and they would get their RMS of 500watts each.....

It would be sweet. But like I said if I just decide to go for 2 subs it will be some other top of the line sub that can handle at least 1000watts.

I'm going for Focal Utopia for the components....
Big plans....big plans....

Money isn't the biggest issue for me....it's time....
I want things done right and I can't afford to give my vehicle up for a couple of weeks to ge the fiberglass/mdf box installed and my rear doos fabricated to fit the extra set of components.....
Ok money might be a slight issue.....haha

You could always use Audiobahn's 34" sub...forget the specs but its freaking HUGE. Finding a box for it might be a bit of a problem though....maybe you could just lay it on the folded down rear seats and consider the xB the box It's not on their website though.....but I know I saw it in one of their catalogs at CarTek. RMS is something like 4000w and max is 8000. Pain.

Was that your DB rating? Can the Scion get that with the stock stereo?

Yeah I know about that 34" Audiobahn.....$2500
Plus the 5000 watt Audiobahn amp....$2500

Audiobahn isn't my sytle....they are too all about chrome and flashieness. I think they look tacky.....I didn't even want to include them on the poll....

I'm not saying they aren' t the worst performers...but they aren't the best In my Opinion....
I'm not pro.....someone show me some comparison and if you got a legit arguement I'll give you props...

MTX has seriously taken a turn for the better as far as I think...at least as far as their subs are concerned....
I vote them most improved sub of 04' ...

ROTFLMAO!

most people get the best buy model rockford stuff, and honestly it's not the best stuff out there... the t1's howver sound almost exactly like last years Power HX2 subs, only they handle slightly less power... I did one T1 in a slot ported box in a tc, and honestly think it's at about 143 dbs... t2's are just extremely obnoxious...

I was a fan of Audiobahn and Fosgate back in like 98' but I just lost interest because from what I could tell they got so big and started selling in such mass quantity they quit putting the TLC into their equipment like they used to.....
Hey these new fosgates you are talking about. Are they the ones that have like a smooth plastic look to them.....it almost looks like a paint job or something. I've seen pictures of them like cracking and stuff. What is up with that?
Fosgate definetly stepped up their cosmetic appeal but have they made performance improvements.
You know what sub I was pretty impressed with the first time I heard it......
the Infinity Perfect 10". It might have been the install but two of them in a extended cab ranger were rattling my brain pretty good and they each were only getting like 300watts if I remember correctly.

the real rockfords are aluminum coned, the black, grey and silver coned ones with a clear coat are the best buy models... huge difference in sound... I do reccomend ported enclosures with the rockford power series however

Mtx has the sledgehammer box that is made for the 9500. It does just what it says.Nice choice on the component series. When I had the 4 12's in the xb the Box was like a wall pretty much. Took up too much room. I was going to post pics. Never put pics on before. Need some help on how.[/img]

Cool....the car audio shop I went to told me they could queeze 4 12's in a ported enclosure and my amp rack on top and not obstruct my view in anyway......I honestly think that would be hard to achieve but they are the pros right. The MTX 7500 only need 1.5 cubic ft of airspace ported per sub (If my memory serves me correctly) so I guess it's possible.
If at all possible I want to get the 8500 series......

I plan to double layer dynamat my entire vehicle so I can avoid the rattles.
I'm getting rid of my rear wiper and putting a key hole sized rear view camera so I will have a clear line of sight when I get my flip down monitor installed....

I'm a bass head and I know what I like but I couldn't honestly tell how 147db copmared to 155db is unless I heard them one after the other....that's only because I have never had anything to reference. You know what I am saying?
