I've been pondering this for a while now... Not sure of the validity, but there have been rumors floating around of a GPS adapter for the PSP... GPS, Movies, MP3s and Games? Sounds like something I'd want in my car.

They have a GPS Memory stick for the CLIE units. I wouldn't doubt they'd make a GPS unit for the PSP...but they'd have to put the GPS unit AND memory (for maps) all on the memory stick duo. *shrug*

The GPS reciever I read about, albeit an old article and probably not even relevant any more (E3 2004 coverage) was talking about the GPS reciever plugging into the USB port at the top of the PSP. I would assume, as you said, the maps would still have to be on the MS Duo. A quick search on PortaGame brought this up:
