Default Question Regarding Viper 791xv alarm..

I got my viper 791xv installed in my xb, and everything is working perfectly, except one thing. If I try to arm the alarm (pressing the lock button) while the front drivers door is open (i havent tried other doors) it shows me on the screen a door is opened. Then if I close the door, the unlock button on the transmitter wont work. So I have to open the door manually with the key, then disarm. I think the alarm goes off when I open the door. Is there something I need to press after I try arming the car with a door open?

hrm, y would you arm the alarm with the door open??
also, on my alarm, if you try to arm it while a "zone" isnt closed, it will give you a second chirp.

how to fix: close all doors than arm alarm.

lol I wouldnt arm the car with a door open.. Its just a feature thats supposed to be there for instance if I dont close the door all the way by accident... So your saying, if i arm it with the door open, and it shows on the screen the door icon, all I do is close the door, hit the lock button again, and the door should unlock with the transmitter? I think I tried that, but ill go check.

nope, just like i thought it didnt work... if its armed with the door "accidently" opened, and then u close the door, u cant open the door unless you use the key, and then u hit the disarm to turn it off.. Im not sure if its supposed to be like this or not.

try taking out the battery in the remote and see if it still does it... does it work normally if you don't leave the door open?

You can hook that up to a defroster button like a rear defroster for example so it will trigger that button upon remote start. Not sure what polarity it is but you may need a relay for some vehicles.

ohh, so for the rear defroster on the xb, since it is a digital button that turns off with the vehicle it can be set to turn on with the vehicle? Does anyone have any information regarding this install for the xb? I would like to pass the info to my installer and have them do so..
