I wouldnt do that, radar detectors that run on batteries dont work aswell as those that are hard wired in. They go into hibernation mode when not in use to save batteries, and takes longer to detect laser/radar because it has to first come out of hibernation.

i like that creative wiring and all, but i just took a class in the police academy and they said that those are just worthless. most radars are pointed then turned on and then off. you dont have a chance to get warning about the signal. the cop that tought my class calls them ticket notification device. all in all thought i used to have one so i cant say much. but very very nice wiring job. CREATIVE.

That's true. I read it on the Valentine 1 web site too.

I just tucked it into the headliner, ran it down the a-pillar, through the dash and then hardwired it into the fuse panel.

Damn, I had that exact radar detector (looks like it anyway, was a XRS9700). I got it for my bday, but last month I sold it and got an 8500 X50.

nice, I had my choices down to the 8500 X50 and the V1. I got the V1, but the 8500 X50 is an excellent decision.

If its a cheap one! I paid 315 for my Escort Solo S2. Its awesome and you can even have the software updated. I have used other ones before this is by far the best radar detector I have ever used.

Only reason I got the X50 over the V1 was because I got it brand new through a friend for $180.

The site that I got my information from is talking about the Escort Solo 2. Of course, it is somewhat biased because it is on the valentine 1 website, but in theory his argument makes sense. Here is the article if you want to check it out for yourself.

I have a Cobra Radar Detector as well...

I installed mine right above the right side of my mirror...and tapped my sunroofs power cord for power...

Worked very well, turns on with car...no hassle at all...and out of site...
