Default Rear Seat Belt Holder Reversed Configuration, HOW TO: w/pix

I read that Scion Lifers have reversed the rear seat belt holders.
I want to do that as well. I could not figure out how to remove the rear seat belt holders.
Who has done this? Can you describe how the holder comes out?
A photo of one that is removed would be good. Or at least a description of how to remove the rear seat belt holder.
Thanks.

I did this mod a while back, and I didn't take any pictures. If memory serves me, I think I just applied pressure forward and pulled them off. They snap back in either way, so no mods are needed to install them backwards.

Good Luck!

Default ....Usefull tip...

I got a PM with the following tip:
there use to be a old post that contained a lot of free mods. only thing was that it was in japanese. but the way u do it is to slide like a butter knife under the clip and it should just pop off. mostly like everything on our cars it just pops off too. hope this helps u.

I think this is an XB thing, it holds the rear seat belt in place when the seat is not occupied.

Thanks, I will try a butterknife.

Default ....TO REMOVE....

O.K. NOW I KNOW....
To remove the rear seatbelt holders:
place a flathead screw driver (or a butterknife) into the clip where the seatbelt would go.
Pry, remove the rear of the clip first. The rear will come out, then pull the forward clip out.
The forward clip has a tounge that needs to slide in first to hold it in place.
Flip the seatbelt holder around and re-install, tounge side in first and then just push it into place.
A photo would be worth a lot of loose talk, so I will try to explain this with a photo.
I will take one and post it with an explanation of how it works.

I did mine, but I did it when I had the rear panels off for some sound deadening. From the looks of it, they are stuck in there really well, and I would be cautious of trying to pry/pop them off from the outside. I did mine from the back and it was easy. If you don't need to take the panels off for something else, its probably not worth the trouble to take them off for this mod alone.

If you are going to do it without removing the panels, I suggest making sure they are at least warm to reduce the risk of cracking them.

I did this mod in 30 seconds, sorry no pics. It just "snaps" out and you flip it and snap it back in. It holds the seatbelt down better.

But be sure to WARN your rear seat passengers about it. I had a friend just hop in and start tugging away at the belt and almost broke the little clip. Either slide the belt out before anyone gets in, or tell them how to use it.

Peace

Are you folks talking about the clip that holds the rear seat belts to the side panels when not in use?

Default ..SOLUTION PHOTOS...

Here is a photo of the XB's rear seat belt holder.

Here is a photo of the holder REVERSED. This way, the belt is well taught and it will not come out on it's own.
Sorry, I do not have a photo of the reversed resr seat belt holder.

HOW TO:
Insert the flathead screwdriver into the seat belt holder. Pry the rear end out first.

Pry the seat belt holder as pictured, in this mannor/direction.
Notice the shape of it in the photo below.

This is the important part. Notice how this seat belt holder is shaped!

Try to remember to warn your rear seat passengers about this modification.
