1) The extreme vibrations from the subs being attached to the amp (as opposed, to say, mounting the amp under the seat) does not play nicely with the boards and mounting points within the amp. Surely, the amp is not going to die immediately, but I would bank on failure sooner than when mounting the amp away from the subs.

2) The amp generates heat. Amps need to breathe. He put the amp in an enclosure not much larger than the size of the amp itself. Just like computers don't like prolonged heat, amps don't either.

Like I said, I'm not saying his amp will die right after cranking it up, but I surely wouldn't expect it to last as long as a more thought out system.

But as long as it looks pretty, right?
ok mr jump to conclusions... maybe you should ask if people have taken precautionairy steps to assure that i dont end up with catostrophic failure...

1. vibration.. ok i have never had a problem with having an amp mounted to a box in the past 5 years that i have had a system in any on my cars.... but... i have always used little rubber spacers under the amp this way it doesnt sit right on top of the box Kinda like the ones that a small air pump would sit on...

2. heat... what you dont see is on the part that comes close to the seat there is actully ~2in of space between the box and the seat... there are also two 2" by 3" rectangular vents that were cut into the back of the amp inset, and as soon as I get my computer fans in one will push air into the area where the amp sits, the other will pull air out of it

thanks for your input though...

Well, I'm glad to hear that you took proper precautions. None of your pictures highlighted these items, and considering you pride yourself on "redneck installs", I jumped to conclusions. My mistake.

Congrats on a nice install.

if this was a redneck install, dont you think that the subs and amp would have jsut been duct taped into the car?

and im not gonna showcase my that in my pics....

Suprisingly.... I know what im doing... kinda scary huh

He was just pointing out some flaws that he thought were apparent... But yea what you did seems to have taken care of all that...

looks good and good luck with it..

oh and how is a bB badge ricer?? I think this term is getting thrown around way too much..

see, that pertains to these little punkasz kids that throw the bb badge on their car and think they are the shyt because of it, those said kids need to realize what the bb really is... it is jsut like all the kids that put the GTR badges on their civics and think they are the shyt...

now if they imported the different body panels (bumpers, lips, headlights, dash) and made their car as close to a bb as could be, that doe not pertain to them...

did that answer it for ya

in case you can't tell, IT'S A SHOW PIECE. sure he could have done something much simpler, less flashy, and more stealth, but that's not what gets judges attention.
form follows function, but not when you're trying to get a really nice looking set up.
