I'm having trouble with my remote start on my Viper 771XV alarm. When I go to initiate the remote start by pressing the * button twice, it goes into remote start mode. the LED lights and the parking lights flash every few seconds, but nothing happens. Doesn't crank .. nothing. Any insight would be greatly appreciated It's getting cold out there, so remote start would be wonderful!

I installed the system, and yes my car is stick. Don't give me crap about remote start in sticks ... I know the risks and once I get it working I will implement a magnetic switch. When I'm testing it out I'm holding the clutch in so that's not the problem.

I still need to get in there with a multimeter and double check everything ... just wondering if anyone, through experience, would know what that would be specifically

did you hook up the hood pin, and the over ride switch. Those bothe need to be hooked up to work. Is the vss wire oand the key sense wire hooked up right. Are both Ignition wires hooked up to the alarm brain. check all these out and make sure they are hooked up as need in the manual.

I thought that the tC was chipped-that means you'll need the micro chip installed close to the ignition so the car will crank. This is why we havent installed any remote starters in tC's-xA's and xB's we do that all day long.

the hood pin and tach doesn't have to be hooked up to work, the pin just can't be grounded, and he must program the RS to start with voltage sensing... his neutral safety is hooked up since his lights come on and what not... his radio doesn't come on, so he needs to energize a couple more wires...
i was leaning more towards the starter wire... or the bypass module...

you obviously don't have a good place putting in your alarms.
there is a piece to use for the cip that will still allow security and remote starting....look into it.....



the hood pin does not need to be put in for it to work!!!
did you bypass the clutch???

I guess not-We had a few problems with remote starters in chipped cars and have avoided the issue as best we could-can anyone send info on this system-it would be great to have this option available to my customers.

i went to one of the local shops here in the springs about the same alarm. they told me that if i was to put it on my xa, or xb that i would have to give up one of the keys so that they could (i am not to sure of this) intergrate it into the alarm. not to sure how true it is, but that is what they told me. i hope it helps

the part is made by directed electronics...they have different ones for diff cars...

Yea it's a transponde bypyass module. The spare key goes inside of the module which send sthe signal to the keyswitch when remore start is initiated so that the ECU thinks there is a key in the ignition. It doesn't disabled the imobilizer, though, so you still can't hotwire the car easily

The hood pin does NOT need to be installed or hooked to anything to make a DEI remote start work. The over ride switch which is actually called a Neutral safety (black w/ white wire) switch DOES have to be grounded for it to work. However if this wasnt hooked to ground, the lights wouldnt even flash when you tried to remote start the car.

Did you use Tach or Voltage sense? If you used tach, did you learn it yet? Even if it wasnt learned, it would usually still crank.

Did you make sure that you hooked the starter kill relay up correctly? If you have the wires backwards then the key side of the starter wire would be getting 12 volts and the motor wont crank. Make sure the purple wire is hooked to the starter motor side and the green wire is hooked to the key switch side.

Wait, I just checked DEI. Did you forget that your car has a SECOND STARTER WIRE? Did you use another relay and wire this up? I bet that is your problem. The other day I did a remote start in a Nissan and I was sick, I forgot to wire up teh second starter wire and it acted the same way your car did.

He clarified that he was holding the clutch in while activating the remote start so that is not the issue at this point.
