Default Replacing Stock tweeters !!

anyone have good pics of how they installed new tweeters in the factory location, i just ruipped the son of a _____ off and then used rubber sealant to bond the new one to the little metal rod that bolts into place, just wondering if anyone had a little less bootleg way to do it

that's how alot of people have done it.....I took the whole assembly off...bracket and all....and then used an angle surface mount to put the comp. tweeters on the door....

Mine is very similar as well. Took the original tweeter bracket off, removed the tweeter, removed two metal tabs to make the bracket flat, and then drilled and screwed into a angle surface mount pod.

Pics at http://www.brendanmc.com/scion/scion.htm about half way down.

ok so im ghetto. i origionally had them mounted well using electrical tape... i know, i know. it worked great but the tweeter was too close to the door panel and would rattle. so, i used a square piece of velcro to mount them to the door behind the panel. sounds as good as before when they were mounted on the stock brackets.

durablity wise, with all the slamming of teh door, i would think that screwing them into the stock bracket is the best way to go... it really isnt that hard at all. I used tin snips to cut the sides off. Then drilled two pilot holes and screwed teh new tweeter in. My tweeter came with all the correct mounting brackets...

It came with three actually, angle mount, flush mount, and surface mount.

WS, mine tweeters did as well. Nice to have some options to select from. As you mentioned, the angled mounting pod worked the best for me too, allowing room for the screws and still completely useable with the bracket. At first, i was worried about the placement of the tweeter with the bracket as the fit with the door panel isn't exactly spacious, but for whatever reason, it fit perfectly. My tweeters are 3/4" so I would guess that 1" tweeters will be slightly more difficult to get 'just right'.

I liked the concept of using the bracket because it adds some angling that you won't get if you mount it directly to the door itself. If possible Quik, I would suggest going back and work on using the bracket. Totally up to you.

I used plumber tape or radio back strap, made a U shaped bracket and the flush mount bracket, used two screw to secure tweeter to the bracket, then used the factory screw holes to mount the tweeter bracket, It made a huge difference in my set up.
