Not exactly.. I mean alot of stuff that costs alot doesnt always sound good. The new RF sound doesnt have the greatest sound quality but i suppose if you seal the hell outa the box it should sound OK..

RF is the best subs you can buy at best buy ( if that tells you anything) but not curcuit city, regardless i wouldn't buy subs from either place. for the most part, rockford fosgate used to have some of the better subs out there but havent come out with too much new technology behind their speakers to make them much better such as jl with the w7 and the new kicker l7 and so on, the P and T3's are new RF subs but arn't much better than their old stuff

I wouldn't suggest trying to get everything from one brand because you miss out on what each company does best. That's why you hear certain names more than others for particular applications. When someone asks about subs RF, JL Audio, and Kicker are common. If someone asks about mids and highs, MB Quart and Focal are common.

Your ears and wallet are you guide. Remember one tried and true rule for any audio application, buy quality speakers. If you buy poor speakers you will ALWAYS have poor sound.
hmm i didn't even see this post before... chad hit very important points! nice reply!

i hve three rockford p2's in a ported box with a rockford power amp and hve hit 144.8 at several soundoffs, i think it is mostly in the installation of products which makes them sound good or horrid.

i have 2 ten inch rockford fosgate punch P3's in a ported box in my XB. They are powered by a 2 chanel rockford fosgate amp pushing 300 watts rms at 2 ohms into each sub. the subs are rated at 400 watts rms so they are underpowered. with all this said the system hits amaizingly, its pounds. it probably wont win a competition. but i can blow my own ears off. i bought all that stuff from best buy, except the box, did the install my self. i have no regrets. i love the stuff i got. rock on rockford fosgate

The problem, as I see it, is not the quality or the performane of RF products nor the store where the product was purchased, it's the application AND the combination of products used.

For example, I can't count how many times I've seen a "1000 watt woofer" run off of an amp that was engineered to put out 500w RMS max. Why? On the flip side, I've seen way too many "200 watt" woofers run off of amps engineered to put out 800-1000 RMS max. Why?

The problem is the individual "salesperson" that sold, or clerked, the system. There are good ones and their are not so good ones.....then there are the BAD ones. You will find these guys at the Big Box stores as well as small independents.

Keep this in mind as you are shopping for your audio gear. Personally, I feel that Rockford Fosgate does make awesome products and are a great value when installed in a logical manner by someone who truly understands the products and the engineering that goes into a great system. Shop for a good salesperson AND installer, don't just shop price. The knowledge that they can provide you with will more than outweigh the few dollars that you may initially save AND you will be happy and satisfied with your purchase for a long time.

I have heard the most expensive products from the "best" manufacturers in the industry sound like crap because they were installed incorrectly or not used in the appropriate application.

Remember, most of the products available on the internet are not authorized by the manufacturer and they have no control over the product you receive. There is no knowledgeable salesperson to guide you the the correct product(s) for YOUR needs, there are no installers to properly install that system in YOUR car. Finally, and most important, you have nowhere to go if you have a problem.
