Default ScanGauge II plugged in.

ScanGauge II arrived yesterday. Just minutes to plug in, mount and get going. Lots of usable information. I'm particularly interested in intake air temperature since I'm going to be installing a Perrin/AEM intake soon.

It's also fun learning how quickly the coolant heats up, MPG, gallons per hour, engine load, etc. I think it'll be a worthwhile tuning tool.

Now, if I just don't kill myself watching the numbers instead of the road.

Yep. I have the ScanGauge v.1 - a bit clunkier looking, but the same data nonetheless. In fact, today it told me that my CEL was a P0335 (CKP sensor). Sometimes I think it knows too much...

Gardiner, wasn't sure if you were asking me, but here's where I mounted mine (v.1):

You can buy it at: www.scangauge.com

Those are pretty neat, I think I might get one of the new ones for my car.

I mounted it on my 06 xB centered in the recess just above the steering column. Used the supplied Velcro, coiled the excess cable and wire tied it out of site next to the OBDII plug.

I bought it directly from the manufacturer, LinearLogic. $169.96 free two-day shipping.

With my ScanGauge II, I found out that my xB speedo reads 8 percent high. That's a lot. I had a hard time believing it. I looked up the gear ratios , checked it against the RPM on both the car and the gauge, and now I believe it. The ScanGauge reads 65 MPH when the car speedo reads 70 MPH. Lots of other good info on the gauge.

I <3 my ScanGaugeII, no doubt about it.

Does anyone else find that the 'amber' backlight color is more like light green? I programmed my own amber color, but it was a minor annoyance.

I think the ScanGauge is almost a necessity given the lack of gauges. C'mon, not even a water temp gauge? Even vehicles I had without a tach still had water temp! I also got spoiled by the outside air temp display on my last vehicle. I figure the air intake temp is close enough.

I don't know why these displays aren't built into our vehicles. I rented a Chevy Cobalt a while ago and it had this capability to display in the odometer area. Push a button on the dash to cycle through the odo, tripmeter, volts, water temp, air temp, MPG (based on the tripmeter distance), and percent oil life remaining.

JSYK, whenever anyone writes "Too lazy to search" You are very unlikely to get quality responses. Why should I waste my time searching for your answer when you won't do the same, and you are the one wanting the info... not me.

And I do know the answer to your question, but I am not going to supply it to you since you were too lazy to spend two minutes looking for the answer you want.

Go to LinearLogic's web site for pictures and specs.

No need for how to install. It just plugs into the OBDII connection in front of your left leg--assuming you're the one driving and are facing forward.

Interesting to watch. On warm mornings box uses 0.2-3gph at idle. This morning was cooler, in the high forties, box uses 0.4gph at idle at startup.

The instant read mpg teaches you quickly about throttle position, engine load and mpg.

Chad - where did you run the wire? Did you have to remove the dash to run it?
