Default Scion xb factory crossover

Is somebody able to tell me where the factory speaker crossovers are located? Do the speakers have capacitors built into them?

Thanks

Stock tweeters have a capacitor built on them. The door and rear speakers play full range. If you need some crossover caps 200Hz 6db/octave then go visit Wal-Mart, they have them for about $7a pair. I have them on my JL's in the dash and they do the job perfectly.

Thanks-

I was thinking about using my factory wiring, and I just wanted to know if I would have to take a crossover out.

The dash speakers and door speakers are wired in parallel. You need to keep that in mind when/if replacing factory speakers.
I replaced all my speakers with better quality Pioneers and I left the capacitor off when hooking everything up. Because of the parallel wiring and the new speakers being 4 ohm speakers my dash speakers play pretty loud as compared to the stock setup. So far they have not exhibited any distortions that I can detect. I was told that as long as they don't distort that I would not really need bass blockers. I seldom set my volume higher than 25 or 26 however. If I went much higher I might want/need the blockers.

When I replaced my speakers and amplified them, I opted to use the factory wiring also. I honestly don't think that I would have been able to tell a difference if I ran a wire straight from the amp. As far as the capacitor, it's just on the tweeter, there is nothing "in line" per say on the actual speaker wires.

Where rae the dash and door speakers wires joined together....that would be a perfect place to install the aftermarket Crossover that comes with seperates.

I want to do the same thing but cannot get info as to ideal location to mount crossover door or dash) to be able to use factory wiring.

The question is if you hook up the aftermarket seperates (6.5" in doors and 4" in dash) the supplied crossover needs to be installed between radio and speakers.

I am wondering where the factory wiring for the dash and dorr meet...which woudl be easiest place ot mount crossover.

I am replacing the fronts with a single set of components. Polk Momo MMC6500. I work for circuit city part time so, my price is a lot lower than even what you find on eBay. The tweeters will be in dash and 6.5s in the door. I am also installing a 2-way alarm.

Toydriver00,

Can you please let me know what you find out when installing them. SOme pics here and there would be great if you do not mind. What adapters/brackets are you going to use to mount the 6.5" speakers in door...scosche?

Thanks

I am using SAT6 adapters in the front. The rear---had to be "modified". I have the rear speakers in now. I used a dremmel and cut a small section of metal out and the speakers slid right in.
