Scotch Guard is designed to have wet spills bead up long enough for the spill to be wiped up. If you don't get right to it the spill will soak in. We had Scotch Guard applied to all the fabric we sold on furniture for many many years. You will not have a problem with it, but it is not going to be a perfect solution either. If you go with the Scotch Guard I assume you are going to do it yourself--right?

Seat covers will do a better job of protecting the upholstery, and the ones from seatcover factory really are very good.
I have them in dark grey velour, and they're a good compliment to the TCM exterior... my only gripe is that the holes for the grocery hooks on the back of the front seats don't line up perfectly...

I've Scotchguarded every new car I've ever owned, and not once has it gone bad. I had babies, youngsters, dogs, etc. in the cars and no staining. My wife even broke a gallon of cianti wine (Yeah, we're real wine snobs buying the gallon jugs!) once in a minivan we had treated with Scotchguard, and by toweling up as much as we could and using some Resolve afterwards, there was no staining on a tan interior.
