food for thought...
custom headliner with reinforced roof,
JL audio
1000/1
500/5
300/4
(2) Audio control Eq's
Front and rear doors 3-peice JL componuts
Rear deck Jl Audio 2 peice component
where the cooler was batcaps and red top battery, and a mile of wire.
You still get to keep the spare in the Xb.
on top is a custom removable fiber glass box, (gel coat Black)
with 2 Jl 12w6v2.
Not cheap but it does the job.
Just remove the box, and you have your trunk back. (Careful it is very heavy and big)

Well, I do not have a trunk available for use (see my response on a wheelchair accessible xB https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...f6516f1f150ec1) so here is what I did to improvise.
Underneath the front seats there is a large ammount of room that is unused. making the most of this, I was able to cram a JL Audio 8W7 under the passenger seat and a 250/1 and 300/4 amp under the other. Sorry, I forgot to remove the tie-down straps. I'll send a better picture tomorrow.
I suppose if you want more bass and have some trunk space you could fit a second 8" under the driver side and move the amp rack to the rear. It may not win a dB drag competition, but sounds damn good paired with 6 1/2" MB Quarts. I haven't tested the limits of performance on it since my ears start to hurt with the volume halfway up.
System specifications:
Alpine CDA-9856 head unit
Alpine KCE-422i iPod interface
MB Quart RVF-216 2 piece component (front)
MB Quart RVF-216 2-way coaxial (rear)
JL Audio 250/1 amplifier
JL Audio 300/4 amplifier
JL Audio 8W7 subwoofer
Please shop wisely. You may be able to pick up everything under a grand.
