Shorten auto shifter

Shorten auto shifter
I have searched and have not found any answers. Has anyone shortened the stock auto shifter? My leg rest against the shifter and turns the overdrive on and off as I drive.
Also, anyone switch out the **** for a Razo or OBX **** and if so, how do you like it.

i chopped mine down when i changer the auto shift ****. i got a levoc shifter from autobacs and did it then. you'll have pull off your stock one you'll have to chop to wires, try to chop them as high up as possible. there will also be (2) screws on the front. after you got the shifter off you'll see a plastic rod and it has a thinner section at the top, just chop it at the bottom of the thinner section and it will drop your shifter about 2 inches or so. the new shift ***** came w/ extended wires and connectors for the overdrive button. i'd never tried this w the stock shift **** so i wouldn't know if it would work.

Pretty much that's how it's done.

I stubbed mine too. I went to peep boys where they sell a automatic shifter around $25 looks like a carbon fiber one and has the button on the top. Here is how i did it.
took old goofy one off with two screws located on the back side out. remove the overdrive temporary. lift off shaft. you should have a metal rod with a plastic piece in center now. take a hacksaw and cut 2 1/2 inches off of metal only. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Don't cut off plastic. after cutting around the metal leave about a half inch of plastic higher then metal. take the wire from the overdive and leave it in overdrive and tuck it under the center console. The new handle i had to modify with dremel and rem it a little to fit over the metal rod. Then just slide the new shifter on tighten it up with allen key then test to see if it goes in gear, then your done! I will have pics soon. I'm in bed from surgery.
