Sidemarkers?

Sidemarkers?
Please tell me that I can get an Xb without those sidemarker lights on the front fenders..... I am interested in buying one but that is really a large deterrant for me along with the poor customer service I have recieved at the dealerships(see other post in Dear Scion).. I really hate those "ricy" things....

I consider them ricey when they are put on as an afterthought and look like the 10 dollar set that can be purchased from pep boys... as far as safety is concerned I make sure I am in the clear before I change lanes. I have never had sidemarkers on any vehicle I have owned and never had a time where I thought... damn, if only I would have had sidemarkers....

Sidemarkers are your friends... If you didn't have sidemarkers, people across from you in other lanes can't tell you are signally to merge. I don't see why you wouldn't want them. They'd be ricey if they weren't standard and you installed them using a butter knife, but I don't see how they are ricey otherwise... That's like saying you don't want an airbag because you're hardcore...

JEEBUS, you guys are totally misinterpreting what I have said and yet nobody has answered the original question I had asked, whether the car was available without the lights....thanx for the help. It is one thing on the whole car that I personally do not like and you replied with a sarcastic remark? wow....

Try making them yellow or smoking them. I understand what you're saying, they look bolted on from a parts bin. I think if you blend the color in (yellow ofr light cars, smoked for dark) they'd look much better and easier then shaving them

First, I will say it was a Euro thing first. It only seems "ricer" when they're stuck on something they weren't intended for, IMO.
If they didn't have the sidemarker there, they'd probably have to make the turn signal bigger and wrap around the side more. Would be even uglier than the headlights are now... And I like them for the safety factor. but anyways...
They can be deleted -

It probably wouldn't be that much work for a body shop, but they'd have to shoot the fenders after patching the hole.
I've got smoked overlays on mine so they aren't very noticable but still work..
They are showing up on all types of cars so avoiding them may become difficult. Heck, trying to avoid the "ricer" look may become more difficult, given the trends...

yes, I am fully aware that they apear on the euopean "supercars" but in both examples you cited they were flush with the fender, not what appears to be, as I previously stated, an afterthought. They stick off the side of the fender and appear to be no different than what pep poys sells that you see all over every oversized wing equipped civic. Once again, it is the only thing I did not like about the car and I am sorry that the "ricey" comment struck home with some of you boys but I am interested in the car b/c of it's features, gas mileage and ultimately, price. The only thing I ever asked for was whether or not it was a standard feature or if the box could be gotten without them. I will most likely get the above mentioned overlays for them to mask them as much as humanly possible.....touchy touchy touchy

Hey Dirty,
Don't let the perceived sarcasm or the "afterthought" side markers turn you off to the car. It really is a good car for the price And there is a TON of room on the inside.
Someone mentioned the Chevy Aveo...they have a commercial w/a bunch of basket ball players getting into one but honestly I don't see how that's possible...it's not nearly as roomy as they depict it to be. With an xB, however, I'm pretty sure you could do it w/o a problem.
You mentioned you were from a different auto scene...which one?

I have been building minitrucks and fullsizes for years....I have owned alot of low trucks including a fully bagged nissan frontier with a few other mods.... now with gas prices rising and my waning interest in the bagged truck scene this looked like an excellent compromise between the two, tons of room, which I love, options, which I have missed, and a great price without sacrificing style or getting bagged on for driving a re-designed geo metro(chevy aveo)...
