Default steering wheel controls and aftermarket stereos?

Is it possible to hook up the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket deck? Does pioneer make any that are compatable? I have a lot of ideas in mind for my car, but its nice still having those controls functional.

I BELIEVE that I have read on here that certain Eclipse head units work with the steering wheel controls since Eclipse is partially owned by Toyota, so the wiring harnesses, etc are the same. You might wanna search around a bit to confirm that tho. Hope this helps!

well, i'm a n00b and i've only been here like 3 hours lol...but from what i read earlier today (from searching) was that PAC has adaptors that require 3-4 wire installs that are almost universal as far as brands you can use with it...here's a link to their adaptors... http://www.pac-audio.com/products/pr...el%20Interface

Yes it can be done, I have a Deh-p680mp pioneer deck and the controls work. You have to get some kinda module/adaptor. I forgot the name of the part, and a shop did the install so I do not know all of what is required. I will see If i can find the name of the product

I belive the link in the post above has the unit I am ussing, dont remember which one though.

yeah. the part made by PAC parts is a universal part and it works very well. you just have to make sure that whatever head unit you buy has a ir remote sensor, because the universal control made by PAC basically sends a signal just like a remote would to the head unit. very easy to install.

the one i was looking at uses a wired remote input...but mine was for a pioneer, not a universal...luckily my pioneer has a wired remote input or else i'd have to get a universal one too...
