Default Sub under front Passenger seat.

Not sure if this topic has been here before. If anyone knows, let me know. I purchased a 10" sub and plan on making a box to go under the front passenger seat. Has anyone done this? If so, any tips? Measurements?

I appreciate any help you could give.

Matt

Tons of people have done it and several people offer them for sale. I just ordered one to install in my wife's xB last week from http://www.elegonics.com The only drawback is that you have to make sure you have a pretty shallow subwoofer that doesn't need a ton of airspace.

Sorry, I don't have any dimensions though.

I thought about that also, but didn't want to give up my only storage space. I heard that girls love a good butt massage anyway.

So I built a box out of plywood and a lot of wood glue last night. Looks pretty cool. I am going to have the speaker facing down.

Have you ever built a box before? What subwoofer did you build it for? What is the volume of the enclosure? Why didn't you use MDF?

I just hope his next post isn't... "Underseat down-firing enclosures suck!"

It might not work, but it was a good try. I am going to take it in for the install, so I am sure they will give me advice on if it will work or not. The sub I bought is a 10" JL. It was a little tricky in the RS3 because there is also the XM radio equipment under the front seat, so I had to go around that.

I wouldnt take that box into a shop for install. They may not say it to your face because they might just want you money, but behind your back they will be laughing. Boxes in car audio are not made from plywood. You need to use MDF (medium density fiberboard).

Here is my under seat setup. The box is the complete tub under the seats, the subs are DLS 12". This knocks hard, and does vibrate the seats. These are unfinished though, I'll get more pics up once the build is done.

Just cause I like to show i off:

Yeah, consider the plywood one a good first run/template and get some MDF to do it again. Ply wood sounds more... um, hollow cave ish.
